ive had it on roof of my pickup 4 years always had great swr on 2 meters as well as 70 cm. was driving and a bit of wind blowing.a limb came down and hit the mx 270. radio was on was listening to talk.it grew silent. stopped and it poped the mag mout over. put back in place still quiet. got home tried swr meter WOAH high every where. removed it and discovered the whack broke the ceramic disc in coil. i ordered a few from elliot electric. took new 1 trimmed legs same as old 1,soldered it in same exact place on coil. put back on mount . swr nice on 70 meters but 2:5 to 1 on 2 meters.
what now? do i loosen set screw at bottom move antenna up or down or what? will moving bottom part screw up 70 cm?
the antenna is on top dead center too.
dont bring up the bore a hole in roof crap too. no for reasons .
for time being i put a tram i got for a temporary base mount on magnet as its same mount as mx 270. it never was as efficent as the mx 270.

Maybe mark the whip with a Sharpie where it was good on 70cm, then try to tune for 2m. Hopefully there's a happy spot somewhere for both.

Have you thought about drilling a hole?? (joking Robert. Just joking)

Good luck with it,
