I was scrolling thru Ticky Tocky one day and watched a video hawking one of those Talk2me SIM cellular based handheld radio.

Anyway, I bought two of them. They work off of any cell tower regardless of carrier. It has public channels, plus you get a private channel. Yeah, it's not a ham rig, but they are interesting and could be handy for emergencies. I get signals where my cell phone doesn't. I've already made a few friends that I talk to occasionally. Battery life is great. I Sent my Cousin in Arizona my extra one. He's 78 and gets a kick out of it.

Anyone else have/use one? I guess there are some brands that don't have any fees after initial purchase. Mine came with the first year free, then $30 per radio yearly after that. Basically VOIP, just in a more familiar format.

My only issue with these is the manufacturer has a habit of claiming the they are the end all to SHTF situations when the cell system is down they still work.
No cell
No radio

Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
