Sams CB-191 doesn't list the PLL 40

Superlid chimed in with this....

sparton ssb/sparton plus/sparton pll 40...

It is the Spartan PLL 40. Use the SAMS CB-211 Midland 79-893. This topic was also covered here. https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/courier-spartan-pll40-service-info.269890/ I should have mentioned, the SAMS CB-191 is the correct book.

So either its cb191 or cb211?

I have almost a complete set of Sams PhotoFacts for CB. If anyone needs info on a specific cb radio just like me know and I will see if I have that Volume. KEEP CB ALIVE!

Hi Dan,
I am looking for a Sam's Photofact for a Galaxy DX Radios DX33HML or a General Lee (the one with 2sc2312 finals). The radio is horribly out of tune at CB frequencies and barely transmits and the bias is wrong on the transmit amplifier stages. This is a radio a lady here has emotional attachment to and I am one of the few people in the area that still has skills for fixing radios so I am seeing more and more CB's come in.

There is no listing for a Sparton 40 SSB in the Sams Index. Just
sparton ssb/sparton plus/sparton pll 40...

The Courier Spartan PLL 40 is described in Sam's Photofact CB-191. Unfortunately, I don't have that edition. However, it uses the Uniden PC-159 chassis with the uPD858 PLL. The Fanon Fanfarre F-350 uses THE SAME PLATFORM and is described in Sam's Photofact CB-192, which is attached.

(The Midland 79-893 (described in Sam's CB-211) uses the Uniden PC-189 chassis, also with the uPD858 PLL, BUT HAS SOME DIFFERENCES)

The President/Uniden Washington Mk II (10010002) with the MB8719 PLL uses the classic Uniden PC-385 chassis and is described in Sam's Photofact CB-222, which is attached, as well as the manufacturer's service manual.


The PC-385 chassis (simple conversion) is very popular and widely documented, as it was used by popular radios such as the Cobra 140 GTL, Cobra 142 GTL, Robyn SB-505D, Teaberry Stalker IX, Realistic TRC-450 and several others.
