11 meter is very quiet?

Turned on the radio this morning and.... hisssssssssssssssssssssss. First day in what feels like months with no skip! The sun must have burped out an excess of electrons again.
Don't feel alone, radio stunk here today also and only made 1 contact yesterday. I notice that solar site has only rated 10-12 meter as only fair for 5-6 days now. When does the summer slow down in DX start ? I don't really remember. But sometimes when the solar site says fair the DX is good. I also noticed not as many members reporting on this post lately.

Listening late this evening (9 pm cst) and now making contacts down under. Just had a nice qso with World radio 677 in Tasmania.
Unfortunately the drunk aussie has started filling the air waves.... I guess he's the equivalent down under version of the 111 guy :ROFLMAO:

Looks like we are heading into a second day with no skip.... :(
Yes
But
It was interesting this morning, there were local people on several channels within about a 60 mile radius of me that I have not heard in a long time.
511, then Cowboy down in the valley, Bones over in Fresno, couple guys wheeling over by Shaver lake and several drivers on both 17 and 19.
It was a welcome little break from s-9± hootn and hollering

It usually starts to drop off about this time of year.
The DX forecast says that there have been major geomagnetic storms the last couple days, and will likely be for a couple more days. The sun burped out a giant cloud of, um, sun stuff the other day which is what is causing this. Things should pick up again in a couple days.

It's interesting that you guys down there get a dip of conditions in the summer months. We don't really get that up here, but I do notice that summer seems to have a lot more E-skip and less F2, with the result that we get a lot of shorter 1000 to 2000 mile skip in summer, and a lot more of the really long skip to Europe/Asia/South America in the darker months of the year.

I didn't get on the radio much yesterday. But I did hear someone in St.Thomas in the Virgin Islands. I didn't try. Other than that it was quite. I did have a quick contact to Maine this morning. I checked the radio before I left to go to a car show fundraiser and there was a lot of noise. I talked to a local about 60 miles from me and got out the door.

I figured the sun was having an episode and it shows to prove that again today. Absolutely nothing at all. We've got a hellacious wind storm here today with 30 too 35 sustained and 60 to 75 consistent gusts so not a good day to do yard work. Unfortunately no dx either....

And yes, this cycle along with previous ones about the end of March and April propagation falls flat with no conditions until the end of September/October. That's just the way it is, we know no different. It's OK because I live outside most of the summer anyway and it gives time for changes to the station.

Usually I start the fall dx season with a revamped station

Was it Shane?
1-800-Toll Free lives in the Virgin Islands now, not too many people running stations there.
If you hear conditions from there again, try calling for him.

I don't recall the numbers of the guy in the Virgin Islands. I will definitely try next time I hear someone from there.

DX is starting to roll into South Texas from the northeast 330 pm. I made contacts up to New York and Massachusetts.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
