Heh ..... gonna lay my gripe here because I'd get snarked off the edge of the world on qrz :p
6 has been open good the last few weeks and I love making contacts and talking to the peeps on this band that's only open for a number of weeks the whole year.
June ARRL VHF Contest
I get contesting. The contesters want to contest and get their points. They want my contact for my point.
But I'm not there for that. I don't contest - and I otherwise wouldn't mind making the contact and using me for their points. But what I do enjoy is logging my contacts electronically and getting a confirmation back.
And 99.5 % of the contesters don't run logbooks or confirm contacts.
So no thanks. Geet yer pernts from somebody else

contesters don't run logbooks
Real Contesters will have a extreme logbook...detailed to the second...They will not get credit for contact without info matching correctly if the computer "cross checks" them... To confirm a qso...We always did if the North American party sends one/SASE...otherwise if I make 400 qso's in a weekend...maybe upload log to a SINGLE service...otherwise not happening....If your talking about DX ...paper confirmations are almost non-existing...cost has gotten out of control and increase now about every 6 months...International Stamp outside to N. America exceeds 0ver $2.00 usd...I think international from US is now like $1.50-1.80 EACH...so Green stamps included for return...Your getting very near $5.00 usd for each conformation(postage/card/time)...MHO worth 2 cents

PS: I just received this today...

I dont really contest at all. I do enjoy helping the POTA folks when I have nothing better to do and I will make a few. I did more of them when trying for my WAS (worked all states). That POTA deal does normally take some effort to get setup, I respect that as I camp in the 5th wheel a lot and do the same thing with rigging up wire. I will work a contesters if I find them that are being a bit personable and asking about the contacts station and carrying on a conversation even if its only on minute or two, if its the 59 guy I scroll on by. I do really enjoy doing the 13 Colonies special event, I look forward to that every year.
