I was somewhat inspired to post this due to the AI thread and the side chat regarding the loss of the CBTricks Forum.
The attached .pdf is something I grabbed before the forum went offline. As I remember it, it was a complete thread at that time (2012) I probably grabbed it years later as the forum had been upgraded to SMF 2.0. **Or grabbed it from someone who grabbed it (Sandy7).

lbcomms was/is an occasional visitor on another forum I frequent and I'm aware of a few of the names on this CBtricks thread are the same or similar to members on WWDX.
I suppose you could say some things have moved on and what might be the relevance of such a post. For me, it was the detail and why I bothered to scrape it at the time (circa 2019) or scrapped it from someone else who had (Sandy7). I'm sure many of us do this and spend time organising information to help with this pasttime.
If the CBTricks forum does exist in some medium it would be a start to trying to recover some of this information in part or full.

I hope its ok to do this, and if not then I suppose there's a good reason.

I can't tell you how many times I read this thread over the years, it is packed with goodies and Sue is the real deal boss. Thanks for sharing.

There was a lot of highly technical posts like that from her on CBT and I regret not saving them, especially the one on the Aussie Bengal 3 base radio (known as a Madison in the USA, the later version with the LED clock). Uses some serial encoder type chip things (sorry if that's not the right term, I'm a tinkerer, not a tech) to give a 99 channel readout and to make the clock show frequency instead of time.

Sadly, they are not working on radios since 2019 or so (she became a mom and stays at home with kid while hubby works), but still pops up every few weeks on the Transmission1 forums.

Did anyone here save the CBTricks Bengal 3 / Madison thread? Had a lot of display circuits and drawings on how they wired into the radio in it.

I've only ever found about 10 or less unique threads from a capture in 2010 via WayBack Machine. There are loads around 2023, not sure why then but they are mostly dead ends. The attachments and links provided for posterity.

I've still got a bunch of info from that thread because it was my madison Sue was helping with.

She guided me through programming an atmel chip and provided schematics for the freq display as well as a bunch of other advice.

however, that info is buried under years of other things and was never really organized in any meaningful way.

if you ever do correspond with her be sure to tell her Matt from the US with the Madison still appreciates all the help she gave.
