Need help with microphone conversion cable

Got it sorted. No idea what the model of the mic is. No label other than the Yasue name and looks to be for the FT-847 FT-920 FT-950. Camaro1 was very close but, it's actually: Yaesu - Cobra 7 = 1 8 = 2 6 = 3 5 = 4 Works ok. Wouldn't say it's any better than what I had already but, at least...

Need help with microphone conversion cable

Bummer. I agree, too much trouble for this. I only have one other radio and it's a Uniden 980 SSB. It does work without the mic plugged in so, maybe this would be a better candidate? I was given the Yaesu mic and was told it had high quality output which is why I wanted to try and use it...

Need help with microphone conversion cable

Dang it. Thanks for the reply. Didn't think of that. I just checked that and yes, the mic has to be plugged in for the audio to work on the radio. In your list pin 4 on the on the cobra side isn't used or I need to take RX to ground on pin 1 along with 7?

Need help with microphone conversion cable

Size Matters - An A99 question......

Just a thought... That 1.5'' might be using the included U bolts. When I put up my HF flagpole I had to cheat a little since it's slightly larger in metric. I just got U bolts from my local Ace and tweaked them slightly and the bolts are longer. The ones included with the antenna are pretty...

NEEDED UNIDEN BEARCAT 980 MIC WIRING !!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, I am not having any luck using this configuration. I have a Procomm powered microphone. It works great using the 6 to 4 pin converter cable. I bought a 6 pin plug to eliminate the converter cable and it does not work wired the way Sonoma shows it should. I also did a continuity test...

    Unexpected Interesting Reward!

I might try this but, I find your last sentence confusing. If the 980 is already a 6 pin cable stock why go down to a 5 pin?

It would be good just to hear some chatter on the lower channels for a change. Around here it’s pretty quiet.
