None of those are the way to go. As the other posters have noted they are all unfiltered class C amps and will sound awful, especially on SSB, as well as being splatterboxes. You want class A/B bias so it sounds nice and clean, and you want a filter so you're not radiating crap all up and...

It's the switch itself. I have heard of this problem happening. As Eldorado says, flooding it with a plastic-safe contact cleaner may help. The solution is to do what I do, and just leave the radio on 24/7...........electronics last much much longer if they stay powered on continuously...

Great conditions out here on the far west coast for the last several weeks! Crazy mix of super short e-skip to nearby states and provinces, and long F2 skip to the east coast, southeast states, Caribbean, Australia, etc. etc. The regular 40 channel band was full of Japanese speaking stations...

From inside a vehicle, no more than a mile or two on the highway, and less than a mile in urban areas. Transmit range would be even less than that. Hardly worth the bother! You would do much better with a Cobra 29 and a mag mount antenna.

We're out here! I heard a couple of Oklahoma stations as recently as two days ago. Not a super common state to contact from here on the west coast, but I do it a few times a year when conditions are good.

Greg I'm curious what you mean by "background for my station". Are you making CB YouTube videos? Or do you just mean for room decoration? The background for my station is an ugly wall with some QSL cards and other important pieces of radio-related paper tacked to it LOL!

If it's the Radioddity version (the QT-40) and you bought it new, then it is covered by a warranty. Send it back and get another one. They are not really repairable.....it's essentially a computer/SDR in a CB case! From all I've heard it's a fantastic radio and I've heard very few complaints...

Has it had the MARS mod done to make it useful on 11 meters? That's a good looking Icom....always liked that vintage.
