President Lincoln 2+ AM/FM no Modulation

Probably from the factory. President seems to be headed down the same road as RCI (Ranger, Connex, Galaxy etc.) these days. Cheaper components, poor quality control, and shoddy engineering. I know a couple people who bought the Lincoln +2 and both have had problems with their radios...

    11 meter is very quiet?

The DX forecast says that there have been major geomagnetic storms the last couple days, and will likely be for a couple more days. The sun burped out a giant cloud of, um, sun stuff the other day which is what is causing this. Things should pick up again in a couple days. It's interesting...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Looks like we are heading into a second day with no skip.... :(

    11 meter is very quiet?

That guy really gets out! I had a QSO with him a couple nights ago with my 5555N2 running barefoot at 65 watts......

    11 meter is very quiet?

Turned on the radio this morning and.... hisssssssssssssssssssssss. First day in what feels like months with no skip! The sun must have burped out an excess of electrons again.

New midland export ? 8001 Pro

And even less likely it will be available up here in Canada.

New midland export ? 8001 Pro

That Midland is a sharp looking radio. REALLY happy they got rid of that stupid looking "eyeglasses" front panel that the Jopix and Chierda versions have. I'm thinking about buying another radio......I'm finding myself frustrated by the wonky encoders on both of my Anytone radios and have...

This may be dumb..... (?? why do CB ops use LSB most of the time ??)

The exclusive use of LSB seems to be limited to the USA, Canada, and Australia & New Zealand. Everywhere else in the world USB is far more common, and in most of Central and South America both USB and LSB are used......if you tune to a frequency like 27.415 or 445 you'll get English on LSB from...

President Lincoln 2+ AM/FM no Modulation

Dumb question, but have you tried another mic? Always good to rule out the simple things first.....

    Galaxy radios is dead

You would be correct. AM has been DOA up here where I am in British Columbia since the early 2000's. The govt gave the truckers here four common VHF channels and they all moved there within five years. Our local REACT chapter (I was a 9 monitor) shut down around the same time. Everybody else...

Courier Spartan 40 channel ssb with a channel dial mod???

Great thread all! I love this kind of esoteric CB radio history. I knew Australia had a somewhat different history than up here with the 18 channel band and all that. Great to have the timeline be clearer. I wonder when they came up with the current UHF CB band down in Australia...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Conditions have been good but not great out here on the west coast of Canada. Didn't get a lot of radio time in this week.....hope to get on a bit more this weekend if I can squeeze it in.

    SSTV on 11 meters

There has been a fairly active SSTV group on 27.700 for the last few skip cycles. Mostly French and Italian ops, but also in several other European nations, as well as some in the U.S. and Latin America. Callsigns follow the same protocol as on the triple nickel, with the first number...

    Galaxy radios is dead

Yep. This train has completely left the tracks and is hurtling over a cliff and into a deep canyon..........

    Coax connector extension availability ????

If everything is done right with the antenna installation there shouldn't be any change to SWR, especially with such a small extension. As a general rule in a base station setup, if changing the length of any coax changes the SWR significantly, then there are other problems with the antenna or...
