Probably from the factory. President seems to be headed down the same road as RCI (Ranger, Connex, Galaxy etc.) these days. Cheaper components, poor quality control, and shoddy engineering. I know a couple people who bought the Lincoln +2 and both have had problems with their radios...
The DX forecast says that there have been major geomagnetic storms the last couple days, and will likely be for a couple more days. The sun burped out a giant cloud of, um, sun stuff the other day which is what is causing this. Things should pick up again in a couple days.
It's interesting...
Turned on the radio this morning and.... hisssssssssssssssssssssss. First day in what feels like months with no skip! The sun must have burped out an excess of electrons again.
That Midland is a sharp looking radio. REALLY happy they got rid of that stupid looking "eyeglasses" front panel that the Jopix and Chierda versions have.
I'm thinking about buying another radio......I'm finding myself frustrated by the wonky encoders on both of my Anytone radios and have...

Great thread all! I love this kind of esoteric CB radio history. I knew Australia had a somewhat different history than up here with the 18 channel band and all that. Great to have the timeline be clearer. I wonder when they came up with the current UHF CB band down in Australia...
Conditions have been good but not great out here on the west coast of Canada. Didn't get a lot of radio time in this week.....hope to get on a bit more this weekend if I can squeeze it in.
There has been a fairly active SSTV group on 27.700 for the last few skip cycles. Mostly French and Italian ops, but also in several other European nations, as well as some in the U.S. and Latin America. Callsigns follow the same protocol as on the triple nickel, with the first number...
If everything is done right with the antenna installation there shouldn't be any change to SWR, especially with such a small extension. As a general rule in a base station setup, if changing the length of any coax changes the SWR significantly, then there are other problems with the antenna or...
