So did quick check at L44. There are 3 legs on it. The one that connects over to C157 is the one that is wrong. That is showing weird numbers around 45 MHz. The other 2 are good, right in line with the channel frequency and from Tr39. So perhaps something weird there. Not sure what problem...
I think i tested it in both modes. Will recheck in AM only including recheck at l44 to driver. I do think there is an issue there somewhere. I had to replace l44 from a salvaged radio. I assume it is installed correct and not damaged. Not sure what else there could be a problem. I’m heading...
Yep just confirmed. And again there is no RF power out on ssb or when I switched it to AM. .
also rechecked voltages at the driver and final. In AM TX the voltage across the center leg of the driver is only 2.6 V.(which curiously is the same as AM TX from the bias transistor). Other 2 are...
I am having trouble with biasing of the driver and final. I can’t turn driver down below about 75 ma.and then it drifts about to about 95 ma when keyed . And I can get the final down to about 75-80 at the lowest but then as I hold down the key, it will slowly drift higher to well over 100...
Saw pics on another site about how to do the Channel expand on this radio. Here are pics from inside my radio. Can someone confirm this is the right part to remove? Looks like it is the one with the white arrow on the board (which is already on the board-kind of weird?). Thanks !
Good idea. Need to find one that will take a drive like that. Most CB amps take really low power. Like my CB amp has only 2 watts in. Can’t do that with these 10 meter radios. But some of the other amps require high input. So I don’t know, not sure what to do. Think I will try to the Channel...
Also I noticed C18 in mine is a 680uf cap. Weird because yes it looks like originally it was a 330 like you said. But the 680 has been in there since the recap was done and no issues (until now). That ok like that? It’s a 35 volt one so I doubt it shorted.
It transmit normal carrier and RX is fine. But no modulation at all in AM or SSB or PA . Yes, tried different mikes and mike gain is on. Any ideas? I did a full electrolytic cap replacement several years ago.
