My 7.3 Stumbles a bit on anything over 400 watts.
When I go SSB on my little amp I am pushing 550watts and I get RF into the mix somewhere and it causes the engine to stumble (idle down) when keying up and modulating. On low and med power no problems though.
I have grounded most...
I have a 148 F GTL-DX. Great radio.
Leave yours stock and get a nice little amp.
This will leave you room to do other things. Something like a KLV or similar I believe you would be better off.
Well, If it was me , I would just buy a little amp. Why take the chance on a great radio and screwing with something that is working for you.
But, everyones different that what makes the world go 'round.
Yes I have all the info on this CD.
I do not know how to copy the info. I cant cut and paste it either.
It has the whole manual, tune up info, everything.
Just go buy it for the 10 or 15 bucks. Tons of info......
Its called "top secret CB"
Let me know if you need something...

How about looking at a Connex
I would stay away from the Cobra 200, I dont own one but have heard horror stories. Its too bad because it potentially could be a great radio.
Keep on reading and learning about the different features etc.
If I were you I would buy a straight 40 channel...
