I have a Superstar 3900 (EPT360015C board) here that tracks fine on both TX and RX, but when the clarifier is set to 12 o' clock & in the detent, I'm 100Hz high on frequency when transmitting. Can someone advise what needs altering to move the TX frequency 100Hz down while in the detent?

I've got a tree about 20 feet away from my shack, and the tree is about 18 feet high, so I think I'll construct an 1/2 wave dipole and string it from the top of the tree to the shack horizontally. So, do you think the dipole like this will probably outsmart the vertical for DX?

What do you guys reckon are best for DX, and does higher mean better or is it irrelevant? Also, is it woruth trying a standard 1/2 wave Dipole?

When DXing on 27.555, I'm finding that some people only 20 to 30 miles away are hearing continental stations but I'm often not hearing a thing. They can be hearing them at S9, yet they're in the noise for me, nothing at all, or maybe S3. Is this normal? I'm using a Sirio 2008 and doing as good...

This also happens when using a dummy load, so I think it's a design error or something. It doesn't affect operation in any way; it's just a bit odd.

When keying off, even though the preamp' isn't activated on my KL505, The preamp indicator LED will momentarily light up. I think it also does this when initially keying, too. Has anybody else got a RM KL505 that exhibits this?

Hi Gary, I have the ATU turned off while doing this, so the SWR meter on this is definitely off by a fair bit. My RF gain doesn't seem to work as a squelch in FM mode; it only squelches "any signal" only when wound fully counter clockwise and at no other position.

I've just bought a new TS-590SG, however, I have a few concerns & wonder if it's faulty. When in FM mode, I've found that the RF gain knob fails to do anything at all in terms of attenuating the signal. It completely cuts the signal totally, though, only when fully CCW. The RF gain functions...

With Yaesu, I'm led to believe the 1st number denotes the final year of manufacture, and the 2nd letter denotes the month of manufacture. This is all well & good for a rig that's only been in production for under a decade, but as the FT-857D has been in production since circa 2002 (I think)...

I would suggest the TS-480SAT is still in production, because I've just bought a new one with a serial number of C1510032. This serial number suggests it was made in May 2021.

I was led to believe that these were discontinued circa 2019, however, this one I have bought has a serial number of C1510032 - suggesting it was made in April 2021. Anyone know if Kenwood have now started a re-run of these, or if they're just letting them go in drips n drabs?

I later found out that these filters I thought were only for RX also apply to TX, too.
