Whats happening is that I can get full output (about 900- 1000w) when I drive the box on sideband, but when I switch to am I can only get 300 watts. If I had a few more watts of drive I could get it up where it goes or I think I can check the resistance on the input to see if it is correct.
I have a XForce X-800 with 2ea 2SC2290's driving 8ea 2SC2879's. My 24 watts pep is not driving the 2290's enough to reach rated power on the amp. What resister is typical in these amplifiers? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the replies. My biggest concern wasn't the total power output but whether or not there was something wrong with the amp. I removed the lid of the amp and it looks perfectly new. I checked each transistor with an ir meter and they all seem to be working evenly. All temps are within a...
157amp with twin batteries. Its in a diesel p/u. I am only getting a half volt drop on transmit so I don't think I have a charging problem...But maybe I guess.
I have just purchased a 2x8 XForce X800 amp used. It has 2 2sc2290's driving 8 2sc2879's. I have a Bird meter that is set up for average power and peak power. When I set the driver to 3 watts dead key and have the bird set to average, I get 250 watts. When I modulate the signal it swings up to...
Upgrade an M4V
I <<BELIEVE>> you're OK with the 2879 conversion. The problem with the M4V being converted to 2879s is with the output combiners. If you have ANY VSWR, you'll smoke them.
I have an M4V with MRF455 transistors that I would like to replace with a higher output device. Is...
Hi. I just bought a new DX959. The s meter would only read 10 over s9 when I was keying a hand held walki talki right by it. I adjusted VR1 and VR2 for am and ssb to give 60 over s9 readings with the 4 w walki talki keyed up near the antenna and now the radio seems to indicate well. Has anyone...
