Learning CW, what method?
Stuck at 8 characters is the classic plateau — I hit the same wall. Two things helped me: (1) stop counting dits and dahs entirely and only hear sound patterns; if you are still translating in your head, widen the spacing (Farnsworth) instead of slowing the characters down.
