I didn't realize it got the mic like that. :/ A shame...
I at least recapped the 1 HTX-100, and removed that glue inside the radio. There was some fixes for the radio at the mic audio. Something about removing a ceramic cap, and changing out a capacitor, and using a resistor where you remove...
I have two of them. It seems that one has to basically yell into the microphone to get it to actually modulate. :) Though its younger brother the HTX-10 works great.
I may have to bring it back out and try a different mic. (Maybe the one it had was broken.)
My elmer who is SK since 2022 would be proud of you for mentioning that motorized screwdriver antenna. That is what he ran on his mobile setup in his truck and got great results. He ran a Kenwood TS-480HX.
I miss talking to him on 2 meters... :/
I fell victim of that today. :D Bought a Cobra 250 amp that is a rebadged Messenger M250. But the deal was too good to pass for $85 + shipping. Apparently it only works on the high setting, and the other 2 settings it doesnt output anything. Looks like the resistors seen some power and look a...
You can do that or just turn it back the other way till you hit your 4 watt deadkey again. :) I would set the AMC to 8 watts when you talk into the mic if you set it at a 2 watt DK. Hell even 6 watts with a 1.5 watt DK would still work for even something like a RM Italy 203 foot warmer.
I ran into that same information that AM Power adjustment is L903. May as well adjust it to lower the AM Power down to where you need it and give it a try.
Good stuff. Either this year or next I was going to Pi-Storm my Amiga 500. I already did it to the Amiga 2000 and man... Talk about sending that old computer 1000 MHz with a Raspberry Pi 3 A+ board lol. Even faster with a Pi 4. No more rendering taking half hour or more per low resolution 3D...
Just make sure you are aware of the damn epoxy filled C64 power supplies. They will take stuff out sooner or later. Better to get a C128 power supply with an adapter or an aftermarket PSU.
I have been eyeballing the tweezer ones mainly to remove SMD caps off old game consoles like the Super NES or the 1990s computer boards like the Commodore Amiga or Macintosh computers.
It was back in 2017 I bought some voltage regulators for the Cobra 142 GTL radios I had... I bought some and they turned out to be new old stock. I have been meaning to buy some more, but unsure where there is a reliable new old stock on eBay.
I know but ive grinded away at a broken off pin just enough to get some of it barely showing shiny, then managed to get it to stick and use a wire. You at least have some bite to go into. you may be able to dremel from the top of it near the pin to expose more.
It looks very bad, but can you grind away at that right area so it might show up some shiny to the pin? Then throw some flux on it and see if you can get it to stick to a wire. Least to try and save its life.
For what its worth, today I was messing with my Uniden PC78LTW that was from 1994. That one has a 2166 final in it on the back. You can usually grab a multi meter and probe any of the 3 legs to see if there is a direct short between the legs. (I believe its best to desolder the legs off the...
With a 10 watt swing on SSB, the Magnum 2000 and the Palomar Skipper easily does 100 watts on Low/150 on Medium/200 on high, and 250 on Max. I kept my AM deadkey at 1.5 watts with an 8 watt sing. I need to check those readings sometime as I only did it while I was on SSB.
