Yeah I ran 1 of my Q6 Pros as a base yesterday and it was barking out on 37 lsb a good portion of the day and even 10 PM when I shut her down. Had too much going on to try to talk but sometimes it's nice to hear a quality radio doing it's thing !
turned the radio on late this morning to listen as i was showering and the radio was sounding A-OK as it has been lately. But this heat-wave we've been gong thru has set off crippling Arthritis. It's hard to think about talking on the radio when everything hurts as you are laying in bed with the...
Well you guys would have had a good laugh today seeing my old fumble fingers re-wire my old Turner Plus 3 mic but I Got Er Done. And now comes the learning curve. Looks like I have to turn the mic gain back on the radio but it sounded pretty good on my test radio in the other room. Of coarse...
With a Knic Knac Patty Wac the DX Gods threw this old Dog a Bone! ( Once from the Base & the last from the Mobile ) Then this Old Dog went rolling Home.
( Happy ) Both from SE coast. It's been a while !
OK this is what I have found so far for wiring the +3 to my 2547 or cobra # 1 the shield wire # 2 the white wire # 3 the black wire & # 4 the red wire But how about the wiring order for the SSK to work with my 2547 or a cobra? I've had the SSK a long time but never changed the wiring but...
Yes I've heard before that the Sidekick was a SSB mic but I just read another post talking about those old mics having parts in them that fail with age so I guess they are both a gamble.
OK I have both of these mics and have heard good things about Turner mics so it brings up the question ? Which one of these old mics gets the highest rating from you old pros on 11 meter SSB ??? I'm thinking of wiring one for my Galaxy 2547 or a Cobra and the wiring order to which pin would...
I've used that meter on my bench for years after I had a radio guy calibrate it to his bird meter. And it was stingy on the modulation reading until I corrected that. They aren't that expensive for just self radio bench work...
That is good it has ssb which makes it more of a keeper. Mine is just AM so I'm going to pass it on, but keep the Turner Plus Three mic because I've heard good about them. But I'm hoping someone in here chimes in on how to rewire a hand SuperStar mic to work with my little Royce base. I've been...
Yes I like your antenna job and it looks good and that option is on the table for sure. A couple weeks from now I'm going to a local Cap MFG. ( 2 hrs ) and talk about a custom Aluminum cap. I have custom building in my blood so thoughts are endless and cheap until the Poop hits the Fan
Thanks
Seeing I'm the kind of guy who Absolutely refuses to punch a hole in the roof of my new truck it brings the question to mind, Has anybody ever ran a piece of antenna coax thru a piece of BX cable shielding and put it up thru the floor of their truck to protect it from road grit and damage...
