Hoods on vehicles are in place to facilitate regular owner maintenance to include checking system fluids. No such user maintenance is needed on a two-way radio.

The "Tune" is a scam. Don't purchase radios from anyone who "tunes" radios.

No, I've been married for more than three decades. Permission from my wife isn't needed, before I buy anything (never has been, I wear the pants). There's an entire room in our house dedicated to two-way radio. Only eight radios are CBs (six are still in their boxes).

Who's talking about the FCC (and enforcement)? This is an effort to find the source of the noise (know what you're dealing with). That should always be the first step when receiving interference. Using the shotgun method to combat a problem doesn't teach us anything, and can get very expensive...

Contact the power company. The power supplies driving the LEDs might be injecting noise into the AC lines, feeding back to the power company's transformer. Let them eliminate that possibility, before spending a lot of money on notch filters.

It's best to ignore PEP readings. They are used to mislead customers regarding radio performance. An un-modulated dead key is what will indicated honest power output on your radio. Trying to display honest output on SSB is ridiculous. Don't fall for it. The CB radio world is full of con men...
