Using a DVM you can check continuity on the switch poles. Ive had many switches badly oxidized, and using contact cleaner, it actually took several minutes flipping the switch back and forth til it cleaned up internally and started working. Maybe this might help you.
Maybe doing a continuity check on the mic audio line and ground line, with the mic open and the radio open, checking from the mic, thru the mic connector, into the radio for continuity. Ive experienced poor or no connections thru mic connectors before (even antenna connectors).
Yes, the D201A is a non-PLL radio. The channel switch is known to fail. Not IF but WHEN. It mixes 5 crystals with 10 other crystals to get the total 40. So the channel switch has a very different switching matrix then a 40 channel PLL radio. Was hoping there was maybe a few other radios like...
Appreciate the response. The Tram D201A had this setup. was hoping it wasn't the only radio like this. We all know how the channel switch fails in these radios.
I know most 40 channel radios are PLL, but are there any non-PLL radios (crystal synthesis) out there? If there is I want to try retro the switch into my Tram D201A. TIA.
Thats it. I didn't try it. I just removed it. Searched the internet but found no info at all. Can only assume it adds FM mode to the radio. If any info on it comes about, I wouldnt mind trying it.
This one just hit me. Live Free or Die Hard, Bruce is driving a semi and talking on a scanner, and on 66.6 mhz to Warlock, the computer hacker king. I called the network to complain but they blocked my number.
Many years back, my boss went on a DXpedition in the pacific. Cant fully remember where. Kure, Kingman? Sorry just dont remember. But it was rare, and there was a planet pileup. Well, I was at work getting ready for an upcoming job. Needed the Boss' hammer drill. The prep meeting at work...
Hi. I recently found and bought a Scooper M-8080 which looks to be almost 99% identical to the Utac TRX-500. Only difference is the M-8080 has 2 banks of channels, CB and HI, the Utac just has a delta tune switch. Would you have Sams CB-181? I read that the Utac TRX-500 is in there. Thank you.

No. Gears must be on. But I think that shaft for the gear should be turning. At 62 my vision so-so. Maybe can feel the shaft spinning with your finger if you cant see it.
