Ideas for putting IMAX is tree.

And I do have personal knowledge of that. I received 5 rather large screws that look just like lag screws in the x-rays, in my left ankle about 20 some years ago in an automobile accident from a drunk driver and it still hurts like hell to this day! Thank you. You can purchase good straps, that...

    Need recommendations for big rig

I have had the K-30 antennas and they run high swr's as they are, or seem to be, narrow banded. If your swr is high, shorten the whip. That may mean cutting the whip to shorten it after you run out of adjustment with the set screw. If it's going to be in a big rig and run on channel 19...

Ideas for putting IMAX is tree.

I don't agree with anyone bolting or lag-screwing anything into a tree. How would you like someone putting screws or drilling holes for bolts in you? The tree needs to stay alive to hold the antenna. Why not use the pole idea, with the antenna on top, running down the trunk, secured with low...

    Any Base Antenna Ideas

Inverted V dipole. Mount with those 4 ft. fiberglass military surplus poles with tripod and the dipole pulley set up and your in. You might also want the guide line set up used with the para cord for a more permanent, but still temporary setup. You'll need at least 27.25 ft optimum to 36.33 ft...

    dipole question

Well, I'm at it again. Everything, on 11 meters DX, is CONDITIONS related. You either have them, or you don't. It is true, you may get 1 or 2 DX contacts out of 10. Especially with a dipole. I have also been informed that a dipole is bi-directional. (I found this online.) I have also been...

    dipole question

OK Capt. Kw OK. Don't beat me up. I never said it was gospel or anything like that, just what I understand and what I'm doing. It also appears that you have been doing this awhile longer than myself. That being said, and while I have your attention, here's a question that I have; When I tune my...

    dipole question

As stated earlier, I am by no means, an expert, nor do I claim to be. For my setup on 11 meters, I DX, Mother Nature permitting, just fine, with my inverted v 40 ft. up. The original question was, "what works best", and that was all I was trying to answer was what is working for me right now. If...

    dipole question

Hey Capt. kw., thats great. I'm not doubting you on that. But lets see you talk to Siberia on a inverted v cut to length for 11 meters with your 12 watts. Your not going to far on 11 meters AM with 12 watts, let alone Europe or Africa. And NO, the great solar cycle (or whatever YOU want to call...

    dipole question

Thanks for the correction Needle Bender, and W5LZ has some great points also. But let's remember, 522 wants to DX, and with a horizontal polarized dipole, to get the needed take off angle, he needs to be up more than 30 feet. Like 130 feet. Dipoles are meant to be simple. Have not seen a reply...

    dipole question

I'd have to agree with Needle Bender on this one. An inverted V dipole with the leads at 90 degrees will give you a horizontal and a vertically polarized dipole. Should be at least 28 feet of the ground. I hear also of having to run the coax at 90 degree angles from the antenna, but I have never...
