    Jumper length.

Jim, antennas can be a pain in the @$$ for sure. But honestly, this is how you learn, OM! You will always have a different SWR readings in the shack if you do not isolate the antenna from the feedline. Remembering you are testing, a choke made from RG-58 or RG-213 would help you. (Just as...

    Jumper length.

Hi Jim, you've go a good team on this forum! Interesting topic. After 40 years in radio, I'm still learning too! To expand on one topic, use of chokes. I always use a 1:1 baluns (or choke) at the feed point to my antennas. In fact, I also use current baluns on my radio, to reduce noise. They...

Something new for the summer skip/DX season: A new simplex repeater is "up-and-running" in California on 27.935 MHz To use simplex repeater, you simply transmit a message (talk)! The repeater will record & then resend what you sent (said). There is a maximum of 30 seconds of message time...

What Signal Generator do you use?

I have used another "Ebay" signal gen from CN in the past, similar to this one. The only problem I found with it is it will not modulate a signal on CH1 (AM or FM) with the generator on Ch2 or an external audio input. For a function generator or signal generator it works fine for $100

Which newer radios have the best receive?

Hi Guys, I thought about more this thread and considered that most operators would in fact consider "sensitivity" as the key to the "best receiver" not necessary sound quality/ lowest THD. Having said this, I have an old President radio which would only receive -110 dBm signal with 12 dB of...

Which newer radios have the best receive?

Has anyone performed any SINAD testing on any modern radios? I have the Radiodity QT-80. I may test this one. This was a pretty shocking test outcome from a modern (last 10 years) radio (SINAD vs price!): 37.5 dB!

Audio Compressor using AD SSM2167 (Speech Processor for more AAAAA-DEE-OHHH!!)

Nice one, cable guy! Crazy the size I'm thinking of the same concept of the 7805 and dual-gang pot adjusting. My boards arrive at the end of the week. Post what find once you get it going. It should be interesting to mess with. Thanks, Michael
