Yaesu Vx-8 & VX-8DR Mars Cap & Freeband Mods

I have performed the resistor removal and am trying to do the software version as well. When I reach the step where I power the radio on while pushing HM/RV and Menu, nothing happens and I'm unable to make it to the next step where I choose "Mode ***". Suggestions? Thanks!
