To take all the caps and resistors out of the equation, some need replaced some look like they have been either all new or all gone.

What if i do this: Instead of connecting the ground straps directly to the chassis, connect them to a single common point like adding a resistor say 1 ohm 10 watt from grids to ground reconnect the meter to that point on the ungrounded side of that resistor to use as a sampling resistor for...

Has anyone ever strap grounded the grids on one of these amps and modified the the tap point for the grid current meter? I am thinking that grabbing the return on the filament center tap between R10 anb C52 shown by the blue line would get it to work again after the grid grounding.

I know this is an old thread i made back in the day but the problem was found with help from nomad was a 22k surface mount resistor hidden under a solder blob on underside of the board that would repeat a 10KHz signal from 25 Mhz to 30Mhz+ getting weaker as it got away from selected freq/channel.

Ok i wasn't really looking to trouble shoot a photo of a radio from the net was just a thing that gave me a chuckle and i shared, my mistake. 73's

Hi folks been gone a while found this old bookmark thought i would drop by and say howdy. Found this radio on fleabay some thing for your amusement was in the sold list for $2,700 ...A cobra 2000gtl check out the board is it me or this thing missing X3 (11.3258) ,,how the heck would it work lol

Yes it was on the back of the board and so small would be easy to miss

With nomad's help I found the issue a smd resistor covered by a bad solder joint on IC5 put in at the factory by mistake and caused the issue. New look at the output signal after the fix

Update: there is no update lol got a new pic of what is going on tho.

If any one needs one of these I have some brand new one not old pulls and they ring slightly higher and are easy to trim down to freq with radio's stock trimmers.

I will check into that, as far as the radio goes it does 100 watts out good sound just transmits every where at once
