    Rooster-Made 3-500z Project

Paws, you just reminded me about the 4 transistor I built over a year ago, I've never key it up or even applied power - it's somewhere under my desk! I did get that Carver M500t audio amp figured out this week, I've gotta recap it yet. Just hope I don't loose it under my desk before getting new...

    Rooster-Made 3-500z Project

Been smoozing the wife for some counter space......Greg it's in the same condition as photographed over a year ago.....I'll have to go hunting parts again because who knows where i put everything. Been tinkering with a lot with HiFi audio amps lately, winter is coming soon enough... Rooster

    Rooster-Made 3-500z Project

Amp as of 12-16 Amp as of 12-16, I've made some more progress but the wife is getting tired of my crap being in the kitchen. I'm buying a couple blank 19' rack panels for the amp & HV supply. I have to build another rigid frame for the HV transformer. Once finished, I have a small 4 post rack...

    Rooster-Made Amplifier

I honestly agree with you and Tony's rule. I think the same rule should apply to transistor amps. 32 and 64 transistors amps just do not make sense to me or even 16 for that matter. I guess it make sense building them because the class exist at keydowns but having all that power AC available i...

    Rooster-Made Amplifier

It would be too easy just to use one tube and then I would have to pay for it. Other than the transformer it's a parts amp. Believe me this has been well thought out before any money was spent. BTW, Greg you still building?

    Rooster-Made Amplifier

Paw's I'm gonna have to get you some updated pictures. hell, I have the panel meters set, varibles in place "need to dip the coil" Filament transformer wired in as well as the choke, isolation transformer for bias is in place, tubes are now mounted vertically, Rectifier/filter board mounted. We...

    landmatic 557

I have always wanted a magnum 357, I have owned a 257 (still have one) and they are fantastic sideband radios. The clarifier is unlocked from the factory. The old models had a rejection problem like the magnum deltaforce but the newer models (one I have) does a fine job. Cb World Informer had a...

    Getting a SB 200

Yea 194, the sb-200 and 220 are not properly biased for AM use. The bias circuit can be rebuilt to make them work fine on AM but your not going to find much documentation if any to do so. There simply built to produce full output on CW and sideband. If you watch the grid current while on AM it...

What is the loudest export radio?

What I consider loud is a Uniden grant XL with a stock mic attached to a 1x2x8. Gets most peoples attention better than an over modulated distorted 40 watt radio. Just think, 30+ DB 25-30 miles away. Absolutely my opinion.

    Getting a SB 200

SB-200 is a true workhorse, it's also a SSB CW amplifier. You can certainly use it on AM but watch the grid current as it will max out fast. Better yet, make sure the metering resistors for the grid HV meter are in good condition as they tend to burn up over time leaving your meter off scale...

    WINScanner

Anybody here set up winscanner on a radio? I have been thinking about setting up a grant xl but would like some feedback from any possible users first.

    Heathkit SB-220

Buying tube amps on ebay can go well and then it can suck. I bought an sb-200 and the person who assured me that it would be packed very well threw it in a box full of peanuts and it arrived wasted. Case was crushed, chassis was bent, power supply board was busted from a direct blow. It was in...
