sp5it, I was typing while you were commenting. Would changing the BFO require more than just a "golden" screwdriver? I will search the schematics and see if thats a simple adjustment or a component change. Thanks for the direction.

Thanks for the quick responses. The issue I am having with the radio is not really the amount of noise on the receive but the tone of the sound. I would like to know if there is an adjustment inside or a component that can be changed to change the "shape" of the sound. Not sure id a DSP would...
