    RCA CO-PILOT 14T305

I go all out on any 02A Cybernet, but that’s just me. The two push buttons would be mounted below the MOD indicator. The RF gain would be the volume, and the DIM knob would become the squelch. The 4 pin jack would be wired for any Cobra mic.....While I’m at it, incandescent bulbs would be...

    Sears SSB Power Connector

I salvaged the male plug from an old ATX computer power supply. Those were ideal. After a little internal connection mod and chassis tweaking to the CB, you’re good to go. That computer AC cord also give it a stock appearance. An upgrade IMO.

If you were a pirate broadcaster, what's playing right now?

I was surprised to see the 23 channel SSB Realistic TRC-48 in this 1974 Peter Fonda movie. I very capable radio indeed. Apparently you’re able to receive and transmit while this radio is turned off, and use the only frequency available that everybody can communicate on. That includes the...

Hitachi only manufactured a few AM only CB radios, it’s sad they decided to abruptly quit their CB Manufacturing line. It’s like Hitachi being the song writer with both Sears and J C Penny singing all the songs plus adding their own spin.

    unidentified module

More clues…. Thinking back, many J C Penny radios used those connectors, and the 681-6241 (981-8360) model employed those same two 12 Mhz crystal pairs. You usually don’t see two different crystal brands in the same circuit. By looking at the solder joints, that probably was an attempt at a...

    unidentified module

By looking at the CBC International crystal mixing chart, various 12 Mhz crystals will produce higher channels and above frequencies in a SBE Console II plus a few others. In that case, a 12.320 Mhz crystal will produce 27.585 Mhz on Channel 1. I also seem to recall 12 Mhz crystals being used...

    Lafayette Dyna-com 23 schematic

Back in those days my transistor replacement part source almost totally relied on ECG or working pulls. ECG195A for F6 and ECG237 for F8. I found the T0-5 case style final in a Johnson 123a will work, provided that you have the T0-5 to T0-39 mounting conversion hardware.

    Johnson messenger 123a?

You're correct about hooking up the power, but it looks like that radio was under water or experienced extremely high moisture at some point. I would consider it a parts radio only. With my restores perspective, among a few other parts, any crystals that are within tolerance are highly sought...

Real CB Radios are side mic

When any of my side mic radios has just the mic cord sticking out with some bogus strain relief or grommet. I change those over to a 4 pin standard jack. Also, regardless of the radios jack location, unless I convert them, DIN radios are not allowed in my shack either.

Chelco 23- Channel CB, Anyone Seen One Before?

You can add that one to list of other ACT-1914 radios. I changed all of them to except 4 pin Cobra mics. Service manual and schematic to follow.

    Johnson Mouse-enger 250

This is an example of what I do whenever I replace those Axial caps. I usually measure the distance between the mounting holes to approximate the lead bends before mounting the cap vertically. There should be plenty of room to mount those smaller caps vertically in your base. That is not always...

    Johnson Mouse-enger 250

I have Sam’s 60 for the Johnson Messenger 250, but give me a few weeks to post. I usually take that time to enhance the manual and splice the schematic together. Meanwhile, CB tricks has the complete manufactures version, and a small service bulletin component change that will improve the tone...

What's the purpose of the extra set of plates on this Air Var Cap? Johnson 169-25

A great article about that Johnson matchbox explaining those caps. https://www.qsl.net/w2wdx/articles/a4.html
