Midland has changed the 75-822 to a board Rev. 2.5. If you do the export mod on this radio, the display looks like a success, the radio transmits on the new frequencies, but you have no receive on any frequency that I have been able to determine. Anybody got any experience with the late...
NOS and new parts are getting harder to find these days for radios. This trend will continue as the manufacturing demand for through hole type components drops everyday. If the China pipeline breaks, I doubt the component manufacturers will relocate production to another country for through...
I am late to the dance for this topic, but I will respond to maybe help someone else in the future with the "always on problem". This is a common problem with these radios and I have repaired numerous 29 LX radios with this problem. Vehicle over voltage being applied to the radio can cause the...
I looked at the schematic for this and it is way more complicated than the radios of the past 25 years. For a 50 year old radio like this I would probably want to start by checking the resistors in the clarifier circuit as a minimum first step to get to were you want to be. That would be R68...
You can try adding a 5.6uH rf choke in series with the varactor or try an NTE614 varactor or a combination of the two.
Chokes like these:

If memory serves me correctly you should have a voltage regulator transistor on the back left corner of the radio. The DC(B+) comes off the emitter of that transistor and goes to the on/off switch on the front of the radio. The B+ comes out of the front switch and goes back to the radio board...
Beware of fakes available online. The 2030 is obsolete and 2030+ MOSFETs that are genuine is what you want if you change them out. Power output will usually be inline with the IRF520s and the FQP13N10. However the FQP13N10 will usually (but not always) yield a slightly higher output than the...
