President Lincoln 2+ AM/FM no Modulation

The AM regulator is not relevant when in the PA mode. If the PA mode is functioning properly, that will establish that your microphone, mic. amp section and audio output IC is working. Yours does not, so I would be leaning more towards your mic. amp circuitry and switching. It is highly...

President Lincoln 2+ AM/FM no Modulation

A quick test to identify the possible area of trouble is to put the radio into the "PA" mode and plug an external speaker into the PA speaker jack on the back of the radio, with the mic. gain all the way up and the radio volume control about halfway up. Then, try keying up and talking. If you...

    Midland 75-822 Export Channel Mod

Midland has changed the 75-822 to a board Rev. 2.5. If you do the export mod on this radio, the display looks like a success, the radio transmits on the new frequencies, but you have no receive on any frequency that I have been able to determine. Anybody got any experience with the late...

    cobra 29,89,xlr zachary T base (858) faulty L16?

NOS and new parts are getting harder to find these days for radios. This trend will continue as the manufacturing demand for through hole type components drops everyday. If the China pipeline breaks, I doubt the component manufacturers will relocate production to another country for through...

    Cobra 29LX power issue

I am late to the dance for this topic, but I will respond to maybe help someone else in the future with the "always on problem". This is a common problem with these radios and I have repaired numerous 29 LX radios with this problem. Vehicle over voltage being applied to the radio can cause the...

    1976 midland 13 895 clarifier

I looked at the schematic for this and it is way more complicated than the radios of the past 25 years. For a 50 year old radio like this I would probably want to start by checking the resistors in the clarifier circuit as a minimum first step to get to were you want to be. That would be R68...

    1976 midland 13 895 clarifier

You can try adding a 5.6uH rf choke in series with the varactor or try an NTE614 varactor or a combination of the two. Chokes like these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203994106805?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336136228&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

Uniden 980 ssb 8 volt transmit

It has to be a switched 8 volts positive while in the TX mode. Do not use a constant 8V source like the 8V regulator on the side. That will not work!

Galaxy Saturn Base - 12vdc connector

If memory serves me correctly you should have a voltage regulator transistor on the back left corner of the radio. The DC(B+) comes off the emitter of that transistor and goes to the on/off switch on the front of the radio. The B+ comes out of the front switch and goes back to the radio board...

    Palomar 2030+ mosfets

Beware of fakes available online. The 2030 is obsolete and 2030+ MOSFETs that are genuine is what you want if you change them out. Power output will usually be inline with the IRF520s and the FQP13N10. However the FQP13N10 will usually (but not always) yield a slightly higher output than the...
