I just ordered another QT80 direct from Radioddity. I figure with the tariffs and all, now would be a good time before the prices go up 25-50%. I'll put this one up on the shelf just in case we won't be able to get any in the future. These are still the best 10/11m radios ever, and that's...
Last year I bought them both and had them side by side and preferred the QT80. I found the QT80 menu system better, as you noted, and surprisingly, the display was actually easier to read. Something about a sea of orange and a lack of contrast, as well as a busy stryker-style meter that I...
Yes, press the func button again. Or just wait about 5 seconds and it will automatically back out of the menu for you and go back to normal operating mode.
Yes, go to item # 42 in the menu. I don't think that was in the original firmware, but if it's been updated to the latest v.1.01, then you will have menu #42 which should show: "VER.101".
Just to follow up. Success! I installed the AT-6666 Pro v.1.01 firmware and was able to use the AT-6666 Pro Alignment Tool to adjust the frequency right on the money. The alignment tool allows you to adjust the frequency in 10 Hz increments, so I bumped up the "VF" number by one to "51". The...
Shying away from Ranger these days due to their QC issues, but they have the right idea bringing out a radio like this.
I would love to see QX come out with their own version, either a SS-158 copy similar to this radio or a Connex 4800 DXL or even better a modern clone of the Cobra 148GTL DX+...
I have a QT80 and used to have a QT60. I prefer the QT80. The user interface is more intuitive to me, perhaps because it reminds me of most 2m/440 radios I've had, works very similarly. The QT60 has an interface that reminds me of my old Ranger 2950 and a busy display similar to a Stryker...
The code appears to work with other radioddity radios too. QT40 and QT80, for instance, which I added to my cart and applied the code and it gave the discount.
I'm about buy a second QT80 but am just waiting for confirmation that they are now shipping with the new firmware. So far no word...
Are the new radios being shipped with the new firmware? And does this also go for the radioddity versions which presumably are coming off the same assembly line? If so, I’m buying another QT80 like today!
Anxiously awaiting the Radioddity QT80 software release before I give this a try. Maybe Radioddity might throw in a few other tweaks into their version, and I don't want to jeopardize my warranty if there's any question about it later.
If the socket is rated for 20A, it will have 12 AWG wires. If not, then Ford is asking for a lawsuit when someone burns up their car. A good way to tell for sure is by looking up the amperage rating for the fuse in the aux socket circuit. 20A or higher and you're good to go.
FWIW, my 6666...
A 20A circuit will be plenty. Of course, it’s always preferable to go to the battery direct to limit the length of the run for max voltage and to limit noise pickup.
Pez, thanks, hallelujah, that's great news. If QX would add that one feature to the firmware or programming software, I'd immediately go out and buy two more of these radios.
It shows that QX spent the time to debug it before they released it to market. Damn near perfect radio for 10/11m...
