Rx NOAA HF Transmissions on 33m

RE: SeaTTY - Just make sure you tune to the -1.9kHz carrier frequency (for 9110 your radio would tune to 9108.1 USB), and use the HF-FAX mode - that way incoming images will start automatically once Tx starts. These are in fact "re-transmissions of some NOAA data" by the Coast Guard...

Rx NOAA HF Transmissions on 33m

Very good conditions recently for Rx the NOAA HF transmissions, especially on 33m (9110 kHz). Some of the maps in the last few weeks are the best I've ever received. For those interested in giving it a try - here is the transmitter schedule. I find (here in New Hampshire) Boston the best, then...

    2 meter dipole for ssb

My only suggestion for a 2m dipole would be to polarize it vertically. Most 2m signals (around here anyway) are vertically polarized (repeaters, verticals, whips, etc.). I had a big 2M Yagi at one time - installed it horizontal, couldn't hear a freakin' thing. Switched to vertical and bingo -...

    10m Beacon at FN32xv

For anyone interested in antenna/propagation testing - I've put up a 10m CW beacon on 28.290, 10W, on a 10m dipole-oriented N-S. Any s/n reports will get a special B-card. Record Rx so far is HA5PP (JN97mm - Budapest, Hungary) @ 4180 miles 12dB s/n. You can also track Rx on Reverse Beacon...

    260’ dipole for all bands

80m is always tricky with a 160m dipole - but it's not impossible. The "all-band" antenna I use the most (SSB & digital at near FLL) is a 160m dipole. Disclaimer: I am a fan of 600-Ohm 'ladder line'. I would suggest looking into the merits of replacing your coax with 600-Ohm feedline. There...

    Yaesu FT-991(A) Review

User Review of the Yaesu All Mode FT-991(A) (original review of 3 Feb 2016 & update) I needed a reasonably reliable base radio for 2.0 and 0.7 meters, something that could get me mobile UHF/VHF/HF in the event I ever needed it, and something that hopefully could utilize my preferred dynamic or...
