Thanks a million for that info , it is very helpful , next time I pop the lid on that I am going to see exactly what someone else did inside .
What I really want is the CLR locked like it came from the factory and the radio back on freq. I don't know why people unlock these 2950/70 clarifiers...
That thing is about 3.5 kc off on USB and LSB ( with the clarifier on 12 o'clock. The slugs no way had that much room to tune back on freq. This CLR mod is not like the one that Shockwav posted above. There's other parts clippity clipped lol . Oh well ....
I thought with everything going digital you wouldn't need an external LP filter at all. Lots of decent old Drake and or Bencher LP filters out there. I wouldn't have anything Paradynamics in your house lol .
The USB is on frequency when the Clar is at 11 AM and LSB its on frequency when its at 1 PM . I don't mind that its unlocked so much as it not being centered on each sideband. I could probably save a bunch of work , center it and re-adjust L19 and L20 ?
Anyone do this procedure ? I just picked this 1st gen 2970 up and hate the clarifier being unlocked . What do you guys usually see for SSB PEP on these ?
Thanks for any help
102 Jeff
I'm going to order this kit off you . I have a first gen 2970 , I take it the instructions ID the TX voltage point on the board to solder the one 'important' wire ? Thanks
Does anyone here have an ARB-704 amp relay or similar hooked to their first gen 2970? I guess I'm looking for the 8 to 12 Volt tap to fire that relay. Any help is muchly appreciated, thanks
