    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

Yeah , I can just barely hear Kevin if its quiet ( ground wave ) . He seems to be on mostly in the summers , never hear anyone calling him during winter DX . 73

    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

I'm in the North Okanagan , nestled in the mountains . Since all the good winter skip ended I haven't listened much . Nice weather is here and my outside 'to-do' list is long lol . Maybe with this short skip we'll hear each other this summer ! 73

    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

Yeah all that radio stuff seemed to have skyrocketed huh . I have an old school A99 hiding in the shop somewhere , I'll find that and do some testing . How's DX out your way ? Pretty crappy here but I guess that's the summer blues right now . 73 102 BC

    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

Thanks for the info , I'll look into that . Its a shame my nice old HD Radio Shack 5/8 cant be used just due to power handling. I'll figure something out , thanks

    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

Wow where are you buying A99's for 120 bucks ? They are 300 bucks plus taxes and shipping from Radioworld . I do have a 70's RS 5/8 wave in good shape , like mentioned above. Its just the power handling like I mentioned in original post. I also have a 2 ele delta loop up but being nestled in...

    Make a High Powered ( late 70's ) Radio Shack 5/8 ?

Just curious if anyone here has ever tried this ? I picked up a late 70's Radio Shack 5/8 vertical a couple of years ago and it is such a heavy-duty antenna, good thick-walled tubing, and quality everything. It's just the power handling of these is, let's say not adequate for these times we...

Locking the Clarifier on a 1st Gen 2970

Thanks a million for that info , it is very helpful , next time I pop the lid on that I am going to see exactly what someone else did inside . What I really want is the CLR locked like it came from the factory and the radio back on freq. I don't know why people unlock these 2950/70 clarifiers...

Locking the Clarifier on a 1st Gen 2970

That thing is about 3.5 kc off on USB and LSB ( with the clarifier on 12 o'clock. The slugs no way had that much room to tune back on freq. This CLR mod is not like the one that Shockwav posted above. There's other parts clippity clipped lol . Oh well ....

Locking the Clarifier on a 1st Gen 2970

I'm going to set the CL to 12 and tune the two slugs . While I'm in there I'm going to install the relay I got from you ;)

Please help your fellow skip shooter

I thought with everything going digital you wouldn't need an external LP filter at all. Lots of decent old Drake and or Bencher LP filters out there. I wouldn't have anything Paradynamics in your house lol .
