SWR?

The meter is designed for 50 to 150 mhz right on the front panel.
On radio AM mode, meter set to 20 watts should see the carrier.
With the key down, SWR set to forward, make the calibrate setting then switch to reflected power.
It should show any reflected power.
If not the meter circuit for reflected power is faulty.
If no reading either way try another cable.
All radios you try with the same cable same result tells me it's the cable.

just the fact it doesn't work (SWR) on the radio
is a indicator, it seems to transmit and receive OK
could use a better mic (Hint) that's why i threw it out
there, it was a first for me, I will have to take a look-see
and see what i find... anyone selling a power mic, please let me know

Hey....what's the switch for?
Is that a blue light in the display.....kinda looks like it has a blueish glow to it.
 
Somewhat of a puzzler.
The only thing I can think of is the carrier is turned way down.
Or there is something wrong with the radio.

Thats the problem. Not enough DK to allow the meter to read anything to adjust to. Never understood the need for a 1/4 watt carrier :headbang
Remove the swing kit and it will magically get better.

Well that was my guess, but you never know for sure what the situation is unless you look at it with your own eyes.
Other wise you might have to ask a zillion questions.
The other person that posted about the cable could be right; I guess I never considered the cable but it is possible.
I was involved trying to get other information about it and was not ready to jump to conclusions before I had more input about the matter.
Those jumper cables have a way of going bad and being sneaky about it.
One minute they're ok and the next they're not.
There are so many things that can cause the same symtom or apparent defect and sometimes they just look like the same symptom and upon further investigation you find out it is only mimicking the another symptom and then you find out that it isn't what you had yourself convinced it was gonna be.
It could have been a flaky calibrate pot and it was never realized before because this situation of the apparent lo-power situation never occured before.
And as I mentioned earlier the line sample section in a vhf is shorter than an hf meter and therefore less sensitive.
 
... oh man. Forget about those excuses, get real. First, use a meter desgned for the frequency range you want to play with. Then learn how to use the thing, as in knowing what the meter is telling you and what it isn't telling you... can't it's a dumb meter. Wanna do it right? Then do it right! It's fairly simple!

I was kinda thinking about hi-jacking this thread and askin why my 2 meter 1/4 wave won't load up on 75 meters:pop:
