I messaged the Radio Shop in Ontario, California via FB and they said they are handling RCI warranty work.

Also told me an Echip install does not void warranty.

& three out of five times it was likely an "operator error", not every radio is "fool proofed".
Add a "power mic" and enough echo, and you can just about overdrive anything, hell even a "stock radio" can sound bad if the user operates in a reckless way (overdriving the audio input).

At one time the Radio Shop in Ontario was the Magnum Radio repair center as well. Not sure if they still are but they worked on two of my Magnums. One was a warranty repair and the other my cost, radio's worked great when I got them back.

Sounds awful in real life also. I've heard thousands of them at close range. Most disappear within 8 miles. He's a good repairman, that's about it.
