Tram D201 no am reception

thanks for the info. The Tram receiver finally went out completely. it crackled then silence I checked the 5.8 mhz its there and steady. so, i checked the the tube voltages again. i found v400 pin 6 was not reading any voltage. it should be about 109v. I checked r402 a 47k resistor. and it had no voltage on one side, and 306v on the other. I soldered in a new 1/2 w 47k resistor. and its working again. i found a tiny hole in the old r402. I hope this is the one i have been looking for.

I noticed some trams have two black square filters. and some have yellow round filters. and some have a combination of both im thinking of changing them out but I am hoping that r402 and t302 was the main causes of the receive problems i was having. also cleaning made a really big difference. some of the tubes may be weak even though i purchased a tube kit from ebay . i checked the bad resistor, r402 when receive was intermittent it showed correct about 47.5k ohms. i was not able to find it was bad until after the thing went out all the way. Its frustrating trying to find intermittent problems.

So far its receiving fine. I kept it running all day I noticed after removing the r402 the old resistor did not show any measurement, and it had cracks and a tiny hole in it. the cracks were hard to see, they were around the resistor where the edge of the stripes are. its hard to get a good look at the parts when they are in the radio. Thats why i am happy i replaced most of the old resistors and can capacitors with a kit i bought on ebay awhile back when i first bought this Tram D201

Now that i have the receive on again. i have noticed the r427 power calibration is not working I have cleaned it but it goes off and on. so, i ordered the 2,5 meg ohm. trim pot from Barketts. I also bought two 6gh8 tubes. to put in v602 and v401 for the meter. This radio uses 5 of these. so its good to have some extra. I read the 6gh8 is a common tube that breaks down easily.

i noticed the bottom of the lid above the audio tube v603 is turning dark i was using the tall russian tube that gets closer to the lid. i found a short 6L6 to put there and it sounds better.
