70,000 watts WOAH

I have a old linear that was used by the navy some decades ago..

it was given me by a friend..
so i hooked it up (once)
in my car using my Ranger AR-3500 (100 watt version)
the linear is 240 power requirements and so hooked up
at my friends gas station

ok so i though a dead key..
all the electric in the gas station went dead as i keyed up

so thinking it was a mistake or coincedance
i keyed up again
and again all the lights and power at the gas station went bye bye

i have the amp/linear in storage
have never used it since

sucker is to big and heavy to be moved by a single person

i was told it had 20,000 watts

i never did verify its power

but i bet...it is almost capable of saying hi to ET ... lol

LOL DaveMade,DaveMade.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I'm sorry, but I don't get it! I mean no harm, but I truly don't understand doing this  To me, it is like jacking up a car and running the engine at full tilt; it is a total waste and accomplishes exactly nothing. :( It might run off the jack and crash, and the people doing this are frying their brains. (sizzle)

CWM

Can you say "Detached Retina"? I guess the drug dealers have to invent ways to spend tens upons thousands of $$$.

I never did see it....had to follow the link....that's why I said I'd rather see under the hood...A lot of the power claims are easily dismissed when you see what's running it all....

That's from bigradios.com from the 1998 Memphis Keydown.

Toll_Free (from this forum) was there, also you can see Sean "bigfoot" from my area (Chicago) in the yellow T-shirt as Bobby T rolls up to the line.

Found on rec.radio.cb:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec....b260cfb719ff5c77?q=sean+memphis&lnk=ol&hl=en&

Bobby T. is a customer of mine from Chicago. Not only can this
man key down, you better not try racing his suburban. He has a
race ready 454 with a steel billet crank and Nitrous !!! His
motor was appr. $14,000 !!! All of this to run four 250 amp
Leece's and three double stator Lexidyne's !!! He will be adding
another Lexidyne shortly. You know that Goldfinger is the man
that did this installation after looking at it.

<snip>

Next up was Bobby T. and Jack in the Box. The headlights went on and they keyed down. The base replied that they heard someone calling "six". The local judge asked who was calling 6. Neither contestant was calling 6, so they went again, this time the motors racing even more trying to build up the voltage. A local went up and told Bobby that his motor was bogging under the load of the generators, maybe trying to psyche him out. None of us knew what the guy said or we would have let Bobby know that he was running fine. The call came back from the base. They heard someone saying "six" again. Nobody was calling 6. They tried it again, with Bobby really standing on the throttle trying to keep the rpm's up. Same results and nobody could figure out what was going on. Bobby should have killed him. They pulled them off the line and went to the next guys in AC, coming back to them later.

I think it's interesting you can even hear the 'T' being called in the bleedover on the tape.
