I've been thinking about mounting a roof mount sirio antenna on one of my vehicles. I like the size of the base and I like the fact that they have their own internal matching device so they do tend to tune very well. I have not been impressed with the quality of Wilson's in recent years.
All that being said they have a few different models and I'm very confused when I look at different retailers because it seems like everybody prints whatever they want in the ad copy.
I know they have a 4000,a mega watt, and maybe a couple others,. Does anybody here know for certain which one is actually the highest power handling one?
I'm not interested in the one that has the light bulb in it LOL.

I just recently went down the sirio mobile antenna road and you're right about all the confusion. I ordered a Megawatt 4000 not looking closer and upon delivery I discovered there is 2 versios. I thought they all had the foldable feature but the one I ordered has one different word in the name, "rigid". The photo showed the one I thought was ordered but looking at other sites it showed the one I got but didn't say rigid. Oh well, I'll use it. Retailers don't seem to be consistent.

My plan is to get one of the foldable ones with the lever, I know they have a couple where you can adjust it by unscrewing the base, like the large plastic part and then rotating it or moving it around and tightening it back up. I'd rather have the lever. It seems as though I could stick one of those onto a Wilson rooftop mount. I was looking at the sirio mount although I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere. The sirio mount looks a little dinky, and I know that I can change the coax if I want to on the Wilson mount with a simple soldering iron.
 
I run the antenna in the link below on my mobile with good success. It's the normal 3/8" stud mount so it will fit on any 3/8" mount. Mine is on a well grounded breedlove puck mount. Swr is very good, forward power is 900-1200 watts in the mobile depending on alternator temperature and subsequent voltage output, reflect is less than 2 watts on the tuned frequency and less than 6 watts across the band.

I recently bought the Sirio Performer 5000 with the magnetic mount for the center of the roof on my car and loving it because I can lay it down to get my car in the garage and so far it performs real well with my KL-203 P.
Haven't had time to put my independent SWR meter on it but the built in meter in my McKinley says perfect match across the board and I'm making contacts with great reviews.
 
I run a sirio P5000 with the fold over lever on a permanent mount on the roof of my old Ram. Works great. Only dump around 200 watts into it but swr is great. Good bandwidth also. My mount is a Diamond or comet... think it's a comet so-239 (uhf). Its been several years since install. All good.

The Performer 5000 is the one with the built in lever to fold it over.

It doesn't make any difference which you go for because they all handle higher power than the limiting factor which is the coax. RG58 is rated for 400W maximum and that's with a 1:1 SWR. The higher the SWR the lower the power it can handle. Go over that and you start to get internal arcing between the centre conductor and the braid. As going from 400W even up to the maximum 1KW claimed rating of some of these antennas is barely more than a S point on a CB radio and does nothing for receive there's no point.

The Sirio 4000 is the same length as the 5000. From testing it both gives a transmitted signal strength and received signal strength as the 5000. The only difference is that because the 5000 has a thicker whip the 5000 has a wider bandwidth below 2:1 than the 4000.

The 3000 is shorter and again from testing I found that about a S point or so down from the 4000/5000 both on transmit and receive.

There is a stud mount version of the Performer 5000, I have one and posted a link to it above.

RG58 will handle far above 400 watts, I have run 1.5KW through it for extended periods. (If you want zero coax issues in a mobile use RG400) The real limit is mag mounts, I have never seen one successfully ran above 200 watts, no matter what antenna it screwed to it.

Well when I look at those antennas, it looks as though both the stud mount and the pl259 mount both rely on grounding a ring on the base of the antenna. I always had fantastic look with the Wilson rooftop mount. As I went down the rabbit hole this week looking at factory roof mounts there really aren't that many. And to me the Wilson seems like the best option. The sirio one looks downright cheesy. I don't want to use the sirio Mount because it looks like I'm not able to change the coax on it . With a Wilson mount, it was always a simple affair to just put a couple lugs on a piece of coax and attach it to the mount. The only thing that I'm afraid of now is Wilson's quality. I saw a few videos on YouTube that left me scared. Could you show me your 3/8 stud mount version? There was a video on YouTube that showed the stud Mount but I think the person said that it wasn't actually a 3/8-24 thread

What you want is the Performer 5000 P/N: 2218505.50. It has the lever on the side.

It comes with a 13' RG58 coax which can be swapped out for RG303/RG400. Or you can buy it premade from Sirio:


*NOTE - This is NOT the "PL" version which uses a male UHF connection.

I've wondered if the Sirio will work on a Wilson roof mount as well. I've got several, older, Wilson 1000 antennas and one of the newer 5000s. I would really like to know if a Sirio would fit properly on the Wilson roof mount.
