Channel 40usb is a good to qsy to. We just called it "The other channel" so we wouldn't get a bunch of people following and calling us while we were trying to talk.

Can someone explain why nobody uses upper sideband?

Yeah I remember but spring rolled around and dx dropped out for the summer. Maybe it would be worth another shot but not limit it to certain days on the week end. Everybody has different work schedules and time zones so it calls for more relaxed and less ridged.
An old Elmer once told me a long, long time ago, that USB is for the southern hemisphere because of the rotation of the earth. The rotation of the signal has to match the Earth's rotation or the alignment will suffer...
I like the idea of the other channel so people don't know where to follow you.
i try every day. must be bad timing on my part. every 5k from .340 to .600 on usb and lsb. lots of country's channels don't end on the 5's like here.
I've personally thought not using USB is such a waste, but I'm no expert by no means
made contact with Florida from Ohio, the person in Florida wouldn't go to USB to get away from the noise. i just thought he was racist against upper sideband. i neglected to account for the signal's rotation

That's because in certain areas those channels are no good! Where I am here on the west coast of Canada, channel 40 is full of AM traffic from Mexico that wipes out both LSB & USB on that channel. And 35 LSB is the primary Australian call channel which is very strong here and it bleeds onto 35 USB.
I would love for us to find a WWDX channel, but it has to work for everybody, and what works in Florida or Arkansas might not work for the West Coast or New England. USB makes sense if we are going to keep it on the regular 40 channels. Personally I think using a "half" channel like 27.360 or 27.400 on USB might be workable........maybe.......
The zero frequencies are widely used in eastern Europe.
If Nigel Tufnel were on WWDX, he'd tell us to unlock our clarifiers and turn them to 11. But here on WWDX, we still have plenty of operators - myself included - using relatively stock CB radios. They don't have VFOs, unlocked clarifiers, etc. Also, plenty of folks on here using CBs simply don't want to be transmitting where they shouldn't be (per FCC).

Channels? Hmm........oh yeah, I remember those. Pesky things those channels.
Most of the world outside of the USA use usb, we get plenty of USA stations using usb on 27.555
I cut my worldwide DXing teeth on 27.555 USB, including my first ever QSOs with England and Northern Ireland. That's when the addiction began.........

27.555 USB. I am moving to live with my 86 y/o father. Mom passed a few weeks ago. However, its new antenna system time. Think I am going to mount A99 to the shed. I live just south of Pittsburgh.
