Channel 40usb is a good to qsy to. We just called it "The other channel" so we wouldn't get a bunch of people following and calling us while we were trying to talk.
Yeah I remember but spring rolled around and dx dropped out for the summer. Maybe it would be worth another shot but not limit it to certain days on the week end. Everybody has different work schedules and time zones so it calls for more relaxed and less ridged. We've tried to get something going on USB 35 and USB 40. There was some success, but folks haven't kept it going.
An old Elmer once told me a long, long time ago, that USB is for the southern hemisphere because of the rotation of the earth. The rotation of the signal has to match the Earth's rotation or the alignment will suffer...*i use upper sideband as much as lower sideband. that way my radio doesn't go out of alignment. too much of either could set it off frequency. (jk) *not reliable advice
I like the idea of the other channel so people don't know where to follow you.Channel 40usb is a good to qsy to. We just called it "The other channel" so we wouldn't get a bunch of people following and calling us while we were trying to talk.
i try every day. must be bad timing on my part. every 5k from .340 to .600 on usb and lsb. lots of country's channels don't end on the 5's like here. We've tried to get something going on USB 35 and USB 40. There was some success, but folks haven't kept it going.
made contact with Florida from Ohio, the person in Florida wouldn't go to USB to get away from the noise. i just thought he was racist against upper sideband. i neglected to account for the signal's rotationAn old Elmer once told me a long, long time ago, that USB is for the southern hemisphere because of the rotation of the earth. I'm going to have to get a circular polarization antenna, aren't I?An old Elmer once told me a long, long time ago, that USB is for the southern hemisphere because of the rotation of the earth. The rotation of the signal has to match the Earth's rotation or the alignment will suffer...
Ah.......OK then! Have a good weekend too! 73'sradio humor. have a good weekend
That's because in certain areas those channels are no good! Where I am here on the west coast of Canada, channel 40 is full of AM traffic from Mexico that wipes out both LSB & USB on that channel. And 35 LSB is the primary Australian call channel which is very strong here and it bleeds onto 35 USB.We've tried to get something going on USB 35 and USB 40. The zero frequencies are widely used in eastern Europe. That's because in certain areas those channels are no good! I would love for us to find a WWDX channel, but it has to work for everybody, and what works in Florida or Arkansas might not work for the West Coast or New England. USB makes sense if we are going to keep it on the regular 40 channels. Personally I think using a "half" channel like 27.360 or 27.400 on USB might be workable........maybe.......
I cut my worldwide DXing teeth on 27.555 USB, including my first ever QSOs with England and Northern Ireland. That's when the addiction began.........Most of the world outside of the USA use usb, we get plenty of USA stations using usb on 27.555
