But he does have a Hard Head so all I can do is try to make sure he gets the most for his money but the final decision will be his, but I will make sure he knows there is no guaranty or warranty on a Old Radio. There is some type of Romantic mystic about a base station radio, I know because I went thru that BS Phase myself and that cost me money also. LOL Live & Learn

My pleasure. And with the prices of power supplies being so affordable It would be much cheaper than a Base. I got a 50amp adjustable with Digital Display for under $50.00. It handles the quad 5 and a 2 pill driver quite easily.

I totally get liking the old rigs... I have a Cobra 2000, 139XLR, and a Kenwood TS-830 and 520. Fortunately they all work! The new rig has quite a bit of double featured knobs, but pretty easy to get figured out once you have played with it a bit. If he's strictly playing on 11 meters, that makes it easier, too. Get the Radioddity and a solid power supply, good ground plane, yagi beam, or both, and he'll have a lot of fun with it.

Recently took a trip in a rental car (hybrid Toyota Rav4). NB/ANL on this rig is VERY effective, and it has a very good receiver. Seems to get out and get heard running a Wilson 5000 on a Sirio mag mount. Running off a 20aH lifepo4 battery in my go-kit. Thankfully this car still has a steel roof!

Cool! I have not won one but purchased one! I like Radioddity. I own one of their HF rigs, A Quad Bander, QT60PRO, QT40 and 2 MRS walkies. Winning something always feels great! The best stuff is free stuff!

I can't tell much difference with the AM NPC selected, but with it on (or off), power will go down to about 1 watt dead key on lowest setting and swing to 3.6, 3.8 watts. Raise it up to about 4 watts dead key and it swings to 15 watts.

I didn't do a lot of yammering, so the heat sink was just a little warm. It cooled off quickly.

That sounds like a very successful purchase! It is great that you were able to get the Goozeegoo ATU-100—with its integrated wattmeter—up and running so smoothly. Your Goozeegoo ATU-100 is now running very stably with your LiFePO4 battery. The values you reported for FM, AM, and SSB seem reasonable. This demonstrates that your Goozeegoo ATU-100 is performing really well.
