11 meter is very quiet?

A lot of it is what I call "spotlight" skip.
I've shot all sorts of skip, but I got to experience that one for the first time last week. Started the truck, heard a station sounding like it was local and got back to her like a local. She turned out to be in N. California and I was in Chilliwack, BC at the time. Drove out of the parking lot and she disappeared completely!
First thing I thought of was your post, Coyote!

Made my first Indiana contact just running the Raw power of the Q6 Pro in my Cobalt today so that was different for a change but I was on top of one of our knobs. Like they say Even a Blind Squirrel gets a Nut Sometimes. LOL

Skip continues to be dead down here. I don't turn my radio on every day, but at least a couple of time a week. There's been just about zero skip for most of the summer.
No change here. Skip comes in for at least part of every day...in and out, in and out. Mostly California, other western states, Canadian prarie provinces, and Jack on the Big Island of Hawaii. A few weak Aussies in last night as well.

Well here we are at the end of August and for the first time in many weeks the band is a train wreck but in a good way. I fired up the cb-5000 to drive the dx-350 and worked the east half of the country before it started to fizzle out. As one of the contacts I made said "I was Jones'n for the dx" and here it is :ROFLMAO:

I guess Trump must have put tariffs on the skip and that's why you guys aren't hearing anything LOL!

Still lots of action up here on the west coast of Canada......and still pretty much the same areas coming in; mostly California, Hawaii, and especially Australia. Had several long QSO's with Aussies this evening. They are still booming in as late as 10pm on many nights.

A bit surprised you folks in the far Southeast and Gulf Coast aren't hearing anything because I am hearing East Texas, Florida, & Louisiana from time to time......not super loud, but they are in there and I've talked to a couple stations from down that way in the last week or two.

We're at a latitude of "Milk & Honey", @BC Coyote
I have no base as of yet, but rolling mobile there's awesome hotspots into Cali.
Last Sunday we had a trio QSO, West Virginia, SanFran and Big Island Hawai'i blasting in (I was pipsqueak of course :ROFLMAO: )
