    Reclaim LSB 16

There are some interesting articles out about how the sun is out of whack and not following its usual patterns with respect to the flipping of its poles. There seems to be some suggestion that this explains why skip hasn't been what we would expect at this period in the 11 year cycle. Looks...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Yep, LSB36-40 is piled up big-time. Hearing St. Louis, San diego, British Columbia, New Jersey and plenty of other parts of North America. I haven't heard this much skip in a while.

I didn't hear much today. We're supposed to be heading towards the peak of the cycle, but this has not been like any cycle I recall in the past. We had a period in October - November of last year (2022) where LSB 16 was hopping just about every week-end. Then it seems like the skip just died...

There is activity on LSB 38 this afternoon, but it isn't the dreaded pile-up. There is some background activity on both LSB 16 and USB 40. However, I haven't heard any stations looking to make DX contacts. I'll try again now at 4:00P.M. eastern, but the Miami vs. Texas A & M game will get my...

The propagation forecast for today, September 9th for the 12 to 10 meter bands is "GOOD". We'll need to put that to the test on our usual schedule today and tomorrow.

How about a "DX-DAY" for forum members

I'll look for everyone this weekend. LSB 16 will be my starting place, but I'll venture over to USB 40 to see if anyone is out there. 404 in the Florida Keys.

How about a "DX-DAY" for forum members

BETWEEN LSB 16 and USB 40 Many of you know that I've pushed for us to use LSB 16. There are two main motivators. First, LSB 38 is just too crowded. Second, I wanted to include the guys with 23 channels units. It looks like we all agree on the first point. Using both is an option, but it...

I've been able to hear some skip activity on LSB 38, but it has been tame compared to the pile-ups that are all too common. I've called out on LSB 16 a few times, but have not gotten any responses, nor have I heard any other stations there.

NOt much skip this Monday morning. LSB 38 is dead. I'm hearing Brasil on LSB 37 and LSB 36 has a Canadian station talking to a Florida station I can't hear. That is all the skip I am hearing. I hope things improve as the day moves on.

Not much happening down here again today. Hoping tomorrow, Labor Day gives us something to celebrate.

The predictor says "FAIR" conditions for the daytime hours and "POOR" conditions at night. What I am hearing is a band that is dead this afternoon!

It depends on a few factors, but the daylight hours are typically the most skip-friendly. On LSB 16, we've tried to encourage folks to try at the top of each hour on Saturdays and Sunday, so 1:00P.M.; 2:00P.M., 3:00P.M., etc. Give a shout out when you're up to it.

Noon, Saturday, September 2nd and I am not picking up any skip at all! Nothing on LSB 38, LSB 37 or LSB 16. Monitoring LSB 16 as I watch college football.

Is everyone up for a little DXing on LSB 16 this week-end? Anyone remeber the Firestick FS-99? It was a replacement 3rd section for the A99 that claimed to effectively convert the antenna electrically to a 5/8 wave. I was able to get my hands on a few of them cheap many years ago. Now...

I took the A99 down last week for annual maintenance, so Saturday was a bust. But it was back up Sunday. LSB 16 was dead. Not a single SSB station out there. There was some activity on LSB 38, but it definitely was not the wild west. One group ratchet jawed away on LSB 38 for quite a while...

    Realistic TRC-448 AM/SSB?

Wow. Talk about a blast from the past. I had a TRC 448 which I used as a base. It had a Turner +3 desk mic wired to it and the thing sounded fantastic. Folks used to mod them for extra channels. I left mine completely stock. An Air Force officer heard me talking on it one day and asked if...

Saturday, September 2...lots of college football...what's not to love about that? Getting in some decent skip contacts would be icing on the cake.
