Hawkeye, you still playing super tech with the local town drunk? I hope you realized that this is not a good way to go. You should be fixing stuff, not breaking it. Stop being a heartbreaker and be a super tech. Ignore that clown from now on.
Be well and 73,
SL
The relay is in TX. This does not explain why you have no RX audio. The first point of failure with a toasted aF amp, is reverse polarity. Check the AF amp IC you just installed. Scope the input and output. If you have signal in, then look at out. If nothing, isolate the output and check. If you...
I also seal the connection point at the ring. You could use insulated wire, but that is not the cause of the issue. The base assembly parts at the top, where the base tube, insulator and radiator meet, should all be sealed at the factory. If there is water ingress in that part of the antenna...
This phenomena is not a result of the antenna design. It is water on the surface of the antenna that causes this. You should have weatherproofed the RF connector and tuning ring connection points, as a matter of good practice. There should be some expectation of change in resonance from water...
What's the point of a LPF after the radio, when you have a LPF after the amp? The radio has a filter, as does the amp. Perhaps more attenuation after the amp, but the radio? A common mode choke? For what? I am assuming a mobile antenna, because you are using LMR240? Why?
You tell me the radio...
I recall you stating the same thing, in 2023 or 2024. Radio fire sale, NIB etc and here you are. You never left then and I doubt you are now.
Liquidating overstock is understandable, as I am in the same overloaded sinking ship here. We can use only one at a time, so all you need is one. I...
Clean, as is not distorted. He was driving it with a 3 watt tube base radio, sounded like shit. I don't need a spectrum analyzer to tell me it is crap, I have ears.
There are some differences between the current Maco V58 and the new Workman 5/8.
The Workman has better aluminum tubing, thicker and finished, 304 stainless worm clamps, different matching values and material, which bring the antenna to true 5/8 wave radiator length.
The new Workman is lower...
A friend I speak to regularly was on a quest to find a clean class AB amp and bought one of these. It is the worst of all of the 5 amps he bought. Apart from that, I can't say anything else.
Or what? They gonna lock him up? Don't misunderstand me, I am on your side, but I seriously doubt he gives a crap. It wouldn't be the first time a sheriff or marshal had to collect a judgement. I hope he owns it and I am wrong.
