I made a mistake. I meant, from pin 6 to pin 5 (gnd) I saw 8.5 VDC. From pin 6 to vehicle ground, I saw 12 VDC

Do the PLL alignment in the service manual and report back.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. It is a solid radio. The displays were failing, but that may have been addressed by Uniden. It is a much better radio than the TRE Top One. I recommend unlocking the clarifier.

I'm seeing 8.5 VDC, engine off to pin 1. To vehicle ground, I see 12 VDC.

As was mentioned in an earlier post, it is a Galaxy DX-979.

It is not a great radio. Very frequency unstable noisy receiver.
