Why we won't just "upgrade" *your* Siltronix VFO

I had a 6, sold it 40 years ago. I don't think the coil is different based on a video I saw of the six.Looks the same as far as I could tell. I played with it on my bench for a while and I got it to work at the intended frequency with 127pF. The operational frequency is not 23 mHz. The output...

Why we won't just "upgrade" *your* Siltronix VFO

I am in need of the special sauce, to convert a model 5 unit to a model 6. I have not had one of these in here in many decades and the schematic does not show component values for model 6. I suspect you may know what I am looking for. Thanks, SL

    TEST BENCH EQUIPMENT

I have the Rigol TS-815-TG. It is okay because of it's size. I don't like that there is no DC input and the demod sucks. I prefer my Aeroflex and Agilent, but they are big and heavy. Sometimes it isn't practical to drag a service monitor into the field, like it was in the "old days". SL

Same physical size. I suppose if the switch is different, I could swap the switch gangs into the intact switch body. What model radios are yours from? Thanks

Move J424-1 to J424, move J406-1 to J406, look for a chip resistor, behind the "O" in the PCB number EPTCTOP40B, when the front of the radio is facing you. If the resistor is in place lift it. If not, install it. This resistor is marked 100 (10 ohms) see photo.

From the rear of the shaft to the front, it is 2 3/8". Both of your switches look similar, 6 gangs, same pin pattern.

Need Grant LT (or similar) Channel Selector

That's great, but I don't have a switch, which is why I started this thread.

Need Grant LT (or similar) Channel Selector

I believe the same switch is used for numerous radios and PLL's.

Need Grant LT (or similar) Channel Selector

The switch is cooked I think. I think there are piles of them sitting in junked radios, just not here.

The switch that is pulled and in your hand, looks like the right switch, if the shaft is the correct length. I am not sure what the markings mean on these switches.

Need Grant LT (or similar) Channel Selector

Cracked right on top behind the shaft, where the detent is for CH 13. I tried repairing it and made it worse.

Need Grant LT (or similar) Channel Selector

I believe that some Cobra 25's and 29's use the same switch. Also I believe the 2950 as well. I have to check the other possible switch marking that works. I don't have one or a parts donor.
