Order was cancelled in time. It wasnt shipped out yet. All is well.
Crap....
I missed the Yellow Face detail about the Boomer Deluxe 250 amps.... I just bought
one, but it has a black face. :( Ugh... Should I return the amp before it gets shipped to me?
Looking through some pictures online, I do see some of the Yellow Face amps having 3749 transistors.
If the...
I dont think there was an actual board change on that slant face, but strange it ends in 1 instead of a 0. Surely it has to be the same Hitachi board in it.
Now I want to bring out an old slant face radio and put it on my desk. :D
Good ol Hitachi board. :)
The very last Sears Roadtalker SSB radio was the one that was a Cobra 146 GTL radio inside, the rest of the SSB radios were all Hitachi.
I am unsure if I snagged the service manual for that radio when someone else posted it, or there is a gentlemen here that has a...
One hell of a deal... I bought one of those JC Penney 6247 radios years ago, but I swore I have to yell into the mic before any decent modulation came out of them. Curious if all 4 of your 148 GTL radios are around the same years or various ones.
soldered the wire back, and with it on low, it has 50 ohms, and with it switched on, it zeros out as a direct short. hooked up the leads of the volt meter to each leg off the switch.
The through holes are plated on the other side. That part was removed when I did attempt the SSB Biasing circuitry. I soldered it back but just above where it makes a connection.
I thought it was a resistor since it had the color bands on it. But the colors were different than regulator...
The amp was on Hi when it let out the smoke, but this was when I tried to add the whole SSB Bias circuitry to it earlier this year. I removed that all out, but it still gets that 47 ohm resistor hot.
I have a couple, but currently an old 140 GTL radio and have the AM carrier set at just under 2 watts. The moment you even try it on the Hi setting, it will skyrocket the amperage 30+ when you key up instantly. Of course I let go so it turns back off.
Allright......New development...
Kept the amp on the low switch, and now its working?! But you can't go on the high side, as thats when things go south and the amperage draw sky rockets passed 30+ amps. Least this time the relay didnt fully stick on and cook something.
Even if I gotta keep...
