It was dead yesterday here in NC on AM and SSB. Just after midnight this morning, skip came rolling in on our local channel 34. Fairbanks, Alaska and a Maine station back to back, and I thought they were locals at first. Flipped down to 28, and sure enough skip was rolling.

Here is a good review of this microphone. At least I don't have to eat the microphone like I would a Ranger SRA-198 or an Astatic 636. Also, does anybody know if this mic will work on the Anytone radios with six pin such as Quad 6?

Hello Marconi, When I get the antenna, I will measure the diameter of the top and bottom of the wire/coax with digital caliper. The coaxial choke is inside a plastic cover, so I will measure the outside of the choke the best I can.

I ordered the Gainmaster half wave today. Will definitely guy it like Sirio suggests. Going to go with the 71.6 inches(1820mm) sections, and hopefully it will be good. It will end up 24 feet above ground.

Yes CB is constantly buying! But radio is my only hobby, and I enjoy it. Learning about all stuff radio is interesting to me. Not sure where a good quality choke would be installed on your setup. I just know what worked for me on my antenna system.
