I appreciate the advice. I've already started reading the technician materials and was pleased to see that I already knew some of it, but there's also a lot I don't. I'm looking forward to learning it.
Of course the code works on the QT-60 Pro. I just bought mine last week, which triggered an alert in the Radioddity pricing and marketing software to activate the price reduction process, which has now been published. Or so it feels like it works that way for me at times. Regardless, I still got...
Okay, time to own up to more ignorance. I did not even know that FM can be used for DX. I have never spoken to or even heard another soul on FM around here, or anywhere for that matter, but I am definitely going to try.
But I have spoken to many people using the PA function and a small...
I've been using my new QT60 Pro quite a bit over the past few days and it is having none of the issues my Q5N2 was having. This was using the same power supply, power cable, mic, coax, switches, even the same chair. No dimming of the display, SSB modulation sounds crisp and strong on my monitor...
Radioddity replied to my email and guaranteed the radio I received is brand new and not a return etc. It looks brand new, seems to be working great so far, so it's all good with me.
Hopefully this radio will have a long and healthy life with me. But I won't bet on it. ;)
I just sent them an email and pictures of the damaged seals. Now I wish I hadn't snipped the white wire. I also thought that maybe Radioddity get the radios from Anytone and has to open the case to add their own magic sauce to it. But doubtful that is the case. Maybe it was a test or returned...
My new Radioddity QT60 Pro arrived today. I am really shocked by how quickly it arrived. So far it seems to be performing better than the Q5N2 it is replacing but I haven't had much time yet to make some contacts. I'm just relying on what it sounds like on the Lincoln beside it.
I was also...
The more I think about it, the more I think you are right. People on this forum have really taught me so much (at least the tip of a very large iceberg) that it would be nice to know what happened to this radio. Especially if it was somehow caused by me so hopefully I don't do it again.
I'm...
I'm getting less trusting in my dotage so last weekend I sent an email to Radioddity asking for confirmation I would receive the new version. Shortly after that, I received an email from a CSS with a link/invoice for the QT60 Pro. I used that link to complete the transaction. Knowing my luck at...
Looks like a perfect upgrade to my President Lincoln II+ V4. It's still working great but the receive and noise cancellation is nowhere near what the Q5N2 has.
I'm kinda stuck on what to do. One the one hand, it sounds like the radio's problem may be something minor and cheap to fix if you know what you are doing. Or I can easily see myself with a $300 repair bill where a new one is $240. One the other hand, I can post it as a partly-working radio for...
The Radioddity QT60 Pro has now been ordered. Time to button up the Q5N2 and sell it on to someone with the skills to fix it. I had some good AM DX contacts with it today so at least that part is still pumping. Too bad the SSB modulation is not keeping up with the party.
I went through and checked the bias again. Here's what it says. I used three different meters and they were within a few ma of each other on each IQ.
TX-IQ1 -> 102 ma (close to 100)
TX-IQ2 -> 49 ma (close to 50)
TX-IQ3 -> 10 ma unkeyed, 30 ma mic keyed (unkeyed value + 20 should be close to...
I did do it but admittedly that was before I changed the voltage regulator and TIP36C one. I will repeat it just to make sure it's a known setting. And that I didn't make it worse last weekend when I did it. Nah, that'd never happen.
Yeah, I lost my ambition to swap out the finals as soon as it stopped raining.
If anyone on here has a lead on a tech that wants me to send this radio to them and repair it if it's not too costly, please let me know. I'm not asking for a freebie, I believe in paying a person for their time and...
I have been asked what I am using for a power supply. I have tested with a Megawatt S-400-12, a PowerMax PM4-120 and also a 12 volt battery out of my F150. It has also been tested by a tech using his own power cord and power supply.
When I test the current draw at the Q5's full RF power into a...
