    Sounds like the electrolytic filter capacitor on the input hot side..... OR the big diode on the hot wire.......

    You can add some attenuation on the input signal....... That is what the variable is on a Texas Star HD350V and a Texas Star HD500V amplifiers. I have removed the variable a few times and added in it's place a fixed resistance to attenuate the input signal.......

    Wire rope guy wires work just fine..... I suggest using insulators to isolate the wire rope from the antenna system.....

    It's a mobile amplifier...... I suggest 14.0 to 14.2 volts supply voltage......

    I would say you are okay with those measurements....... I have seen the same variations using Toshiba's and you will see variations using the HG's....... Key the amplifier up with a 2 watt am drive input .......

    Those two capacitors help to filter and stop oscillations. They are dc current and voltage blockers... They are not there any longer strictly for time and some money savings....

    If I was doing this repair.....these are parts I would automatically replace..... Of course along with the two power transistors, Q3 & Q4 ..... 1) .... R5 , R7 , R8 , C10 & C12 ..... If not there, install C11 & C13 ...... 2) .... Check for correct value C9 , C14 , C19 , R6 & R9

    I always operate my station with TWO power/vswr meters..... First one between the transceiver output and the amplifier input, AND the second is between the amplifier output and the antenna input...... Actually my second meter is inline after the amplifier output and before the antenna tuner...
