Texas star 667v " bias issues"

I understand your questions and why but let's rewind a little bit. I say rewind because it sounds like something else is shorted when you said the last 10 ohms went up in smoke instantly.

What was the diagnosis before the re-pill? I suspect there's something shorted.
I had purchased it used, 3 of the Toshiba 2879 tested bad after I removed them. I also believe the 2290 driver was also bad however I didn't remove it at the time due to the pain in the butt it is, now I wish I had from the beginning because maybe that's why it went up in smoke perhaps. I never put any rf into it or even turned on the power switch, never got to that point was getting ready to check for .600 vdc at the base and didn't get that chance, should have known not to put power into it without the 1.5 ohms at base. I will replace these resistors and put it the way it is supposed to be and check again with my other multimeter also and will return with the results, but I am thinking you are correct and somthing else may be shorted thank you

I got same reading with 2 different meters, time to buy a Fluke I think, dunno

If something was up with the driver pill and or the 6.8 resistor on it would that cause the damage to the 2 pills on the front board probably?

I put the correct resistors back in the unit and am getting 2 ohms on all bases, subtract the 000.6 and I guess I am there where I need to be

The box they came in screams Amazon. I have purchased from Amazon a few times myself, so don't get mad I pointed it out. Just don't expect the tolerance to be what they claim if you didn't get them from a reputable source. Mouser and Digikey don't use plastic boxes like that.

However, this is about the measurement I had before on power up and the unit went up in smoke,,,,, so with that being said if the 2290 driver was bad and shorted or the 6.8 ohm resistor on it was faulty would that have taken out the 2 pills on the front board ???? I would of thought if the 6.8 bias resistor on the driver was bad I would have got somthing different than 2.0 ohms on the bases ? I am leary at this point to put power to it

What's your recommendation before I apply power back to this baby Elderado ? I am going to zero out my meter tonight and come back with the results, it may be ok this time hopefully
