What is the purpose of these transistors? What effect do they have? The transistors are to amplify the power output.

It is a mobile amplifier. 12 volt mobile electrical systems actually operate continuously from 13.8 volts to 15 volts. I have found over the years that operating a mobile amp in a stationary station works best at about 14.2 volts to 14.7ish volts ...... And all is good at that voltage...

I usually like repairing Texas star amplifiers. They are relatively easy amps to repair. I have repaired a lot of them. But I do not like to repair, fix other folks hacked up amps that made a mess inside.

Probably still doing the repairs. But they will not accept/repair a basket case that has been hacked up or modified.

The amp bias is not set by gate voltage, it should be set by current draw....... The mosfet finals can be "popped" very easily......
