I tested the antenna with a 102" whip as the top section today
It added 9" to the length (over the stock top section) but I actually saw worse SWR in the CB band and the resonant frequency was still up at 28.000MHz.
Ch 1 - 1.78
Ch 40 - 1.46
The lowest SWR with the factory top section was...
I've you're looking for the most simple and lightest V Quad, if you're ready to take the leap get the M103. Either way you'll need a solid mount and rotor unless you plan to manually adjust or talk in one direction.
You may not like what she says about a V quad or a 3 element yagi then :) No such thing as a subtle beam for looks.
Anyone who comes to your house will always notice it.
I just got done testing this one. https://www.radiowavz.com/product/sentinel-hex-beam-11-m-single-band/85?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
Very lightweight - doesn't take up much space. Some good gain and horizontal polarization. Super easy to assemble. In use it reminded me of the V Quad...
In my trial I just stuck some wire into the end so it was touching and then taped it in place for the quick test. I then did a Nano VNA sweep and saw a 1.042 SWR at 27.3.
I'm going to try a 102" SS whip next and see what results I see. If CB users are going to be more inclined to buy the...
Yes you will likely not be able to get a 1.2 SWR anymore as compared to the old one. In testing it looks like lowest SWR is around 1.38-1.4 across the CB band which would make sense with it being slightly shorter than the old version. The nice thing is it's usable up into 10 meters without a...
I'm sure most of you already saw this but I'll post here anyways -

Not sure I'd drop $700 on one but...
Yes a 1.3-1.4 still falls within the specs they’ve advertised. SWR in the CB band will be slightly higher now than it was previously due to the length change but the antenna is still completely usable in the CB band.
I think it’s important to point out that while this has long been a popular...
This is why people use compression to try to give their audio more consistent levels like a whistle. You’ll never see the same swing as a whistle and if you do you’re certainly over modulated.
I have a quick update for today.
I can verify definitively that the current length of the mostly recently produced Max 2000's is 280.50 inches.
It is roughly 4" shorter than the previous version I tested 8-10 years ago. This is almost identical to what Marconi, lonestarbandit (above), and...
I was just looking at buying another Megawatt today. I've had my 36A for such a long time and it's just been a workhorse but looking for a 50A or 100A.
Wish someone would make a really clean PS. I've had no problems with the Megawatt over the years but I did notice some noise this last week...
My guess would be the brake booster vacuum pump as I had that issue myself in the past. As I would come up to a stop light and press on the brake it would start a whine that would last for about 3-4 seconds and then go away (even as I countined to brake). No trailer brake or LED's on that truck...
Brand new it's a $270 radio. You likely paid close to $300 for the work+radio I'm guessing?
Really just depends on what someone will pay.
For someone who would pay to have it tuned/converted it might be worth it to them to save $50 and they might pay $250.
As someone who does my own...
