okay guys... i have decided to order one dipole. that's it. given i wish to install it on one wall, can you tell me please which way of installing would yield the best results (i.e. inverted v). again, i have about 20 foot wide by 9 foot long to work with.
thanks, and have a great weekend...
Hi Bunnieman:
My wall is probably 20 feet wide, 9 feet tall. In order to acheive the north-south and east-west configurations with two unjoined dipoles on opposite walls, in what way would I install them. Seems to me to achieve an north south lobe, I would need to spread my dipole out...
The only thing I can ascertain by inphase or out of phase is cophase. Are you talking about cophasing? :-)
I think I would probably set up one dipole in an east-west setup... accross the whole wall, horizontally.
So, if I do two dipoles on opposite walls, is my setup going to be resonant...
I don't know what you mean by directivity. My concern is whether or not two dipoles will do the job better than just one. I will put just one, if it means that the second dipole will create a directional signal, which you may or may not be referring to.
Can someone please explain the...
The wall is plenty long for 1 inverted v configuration, and even long enough to have the antenna installed horizontally. I thought I could use 2 dipoles if that would improve my range?
Just wondering... :-)

I have room on two walls in my garage to install up to 2 dipoles. I am thinking of the inverted V for my installation. Does anyone know if this is the best way to install the dipole? I am looking for maximum performance. I think I will install 2 dipoles, but I have no way of knowing how to...
Doc,
It looks like I'm not going to be able to put up the Imax 2000 that I purchased. I'm going to need to go with a dipole in my garage. I wonder if I can cophase 2, 3, even 4 of them. Could you please explain to me how that process works?
Thanks a million, Doc.

Hi Doc,
I'm getting all excited up in here... Before I respond to what you've said here... what about installing 4 dipoles in my garage (2 per side)? ... and the sides are about a car length plus 6 feet or so apart.
I don't really want a directional antenna, so what would you say about...
In opposite ends of my garage... is this possible? Will it work?
I may even want to run a 600 watt pep kicker down the road.
Thanks for your help.

That's thoughtful of you to list plans for a dipole. They look very good. Thank you. I am disabled, however, and will not do good with a soldering iron.

I need to get a good dipole. There is a Workman Dipole on ebay form time to time, and I am wondering if there just isn't something better than the Workman. Money is no object, and I want it for CB/11 meter only.
Thanks,

Doc:
I appreciate everything you've told me about the grounding situation. Thank you! Now, I just wonder about a 9 foot counterpoise as I am unable to properly ground in my association area.
For the counterpoise, shall I just run the wire around the so-239 connector area on the antenna...

I have been searching the web, and cannot find anything at Hy Electronics. Below are some questions I have, and two ground straps for sale on ebay.
1) What do I do with the ground strap? Do I connect one end of it to a steel rod and the other to the Imax 2000? Where on the Imax...
NJ 124:
Will 7' or more (like 25') of ground strap do the job? I've never done this, so, what do you think? And is there a link somewhere that can show me how to properly ground my Imax 2000?
Thanks...

I am wondering whether there will be TVI or other related problems if I buy a 600 watt amplifier (KLV-550) for my Yaesu FT-817ND. Before I make that leap, I'd like to hear what others' perceptitions are.
Thanks.

well, heindsite (sp?) is 20/20....i wish i had talked with you before i bought the imax. I have used a shakespeare antenna before with good results, and could have went with shakespeare. I doubt i will send it back due to the large costs and it being an ebay purchase.

Master Chief,
Regarding your post, are you claiming that the 5/8 wave 21 foot base pole army bigstick (for example), outperforms the Imax 2000? Gees, I must not be doing my research well enough. I ordered the Imax 2000! How big a difference are we talking here?
