    New Stryker SR-955HPC+

A lot of amatuer mobile radio's have used higher than 12V devices and step up transformers. My problem with Anytone and the like is that they are not using RF specific output transistors they are just using cheap garbage mosfets.

    New Stryker SR-955HPC+

Do not take this as an attack against you but you are the last person that should saying the above. That said I agree with you 100%. I thought you where rediculious for the modifications you had done to your Stryker955. To get to what 140w? So why would you a guy with 140w+ modified Stryker955...

old RCI 2970 - solved: distorted receive in SSB mode with moderate to strong signals.

Freq. it is the voltage regulator or the crystal filter if the problem comes and goes. I am one of those people that think after 10-15 years all of the low voltage caps should be replaced in anything made in China anyways!

Which newer radios have the best receive?

The best recieve in CB is actual 1980-1990 CB radio's based on Uniden and Cybernets radio's. All of the best exports are cheap copies of these radio's in their export form. So Cobra 138XLR, Cobra 148GTL, Uniden Grant XL, XLT, and all of those that proceded them electronicly are what you are...

    Anytone replacement mics.

We all have excuses myself included. I did you a hint or trail of crumbs. I am busy too. Trust me I could go on and on about my rotator cuff, bicep, need for double knee replacment, diabetes, chronic insomnia, dad's cancer, mom's heart surgery, 2 of my 3 sons not being able to find work fresh...

    Anytone replacement mics.

What makes you think this is related to the tiny hole in the mic body? This is not the 1960's where radio's ship keying 2.5 watts at 60% modulation. What does having to turn the radio up to 14 to get to 4 watts with forward swing have to do with anything? What is next if your guitar amp dial...

    Radioddity QT80 (6666 pro clone)

It does not put out the same power on 15m as it does 10/12m and that is documented online.

    WTB: CPI with dead EPROM

This might come as a suprise to you but there is no one sitting on a stock pile of NOS, Open Box, or gently used units that we all go to when we want one. Almost all of the ones I have seen in the last 20 years have been on Ebay or Craigs List or the like. If you run across some one with a...

meanwhile out in the garage part II

I have not owned an end mill or lathe in over a decade since I lost my first home and had to down size. I would like to own both again. What I never owned but would like to own is an old school well built metal shaper. Luckily for me I have a brother in-law with a really nice home machine...

Export Radios, Amps, and the Police?

Don't talk to cops. Never let them search your vechile or castle with out a warrant. Never volanteer to let them search either. That is a great way to invite them to charge you for some random thing you did not even know was against the law. The above is not legal advice it is advice every one...

    Radioddity QT-60 *Pro*

I am going to copy this idea also for use at my mother in-laws place. Great Idea. I can not believe I did not think of this myself. My Dad and other NCO's used to build all kinds of stuff into ammo cans when I was a kid.

    Bluetooth receiver.

You normaly parellel opamps to get the drive you need then run that into a high power amp circuit. I have only played around with prefab bluetooth boards but never ran across anything would be line level they are more like a turntable output where you have to have a phono preamp to bring it up...

    Homebrew rig features

The easiest way to implement audio compression is to start with a ready made solution. Audio IC's have included EQ, Noise Gate, Compression, filtering since the what the late 1970's early 1980's? Think about compact cassette players with all the Dolby and other filtering, compression, EQ...

So I messed up and bought an amp with stud mount transistors. Advice?

P.S. Mechanicaly I am much more adept than electronicaly. I put a C4 ZR1 LT5 engine into a Toyota 4x4 HILUX Pickup truck making my own sand casting's for adapters and a custom accessory drive. This was back around 1994 or 1995. In fact after that experince I put a 383 Chevy Small Block into my...

So I messed up and bought an amp with stud mount transistors. Advice?

I have not tried it before either. I am only 50 so by the time I got into CB and Amateur radio in the 1990's these where not a thing! LOL I was planing on rebuilding this amp and sticking it in one of the small access panels in the wifes Toyota Hilander just in case! I figured I could stick it...

So I messed up and bought an amp with stud mount transistors. Advice?

So I bought this amp not knowing that some of them came with stud mount transistors. I had only seen flange mount versions of this amp. I am not returning it because it works and the seller did nothing wrong. The mistake was mine and mine alone. It works but is kind of weak. So I am not...

Anyone build an amp with NTE317 transistors?

That is why I bought one designed by Brian Griefy(sp) and then proceded to purchase circuit boards from him to build my own. The only way it could have gotten any better would be if JRC sold kits! LOL In a perfect world it would have been RF Fet based, band tuning, legal limit, and swr pwr...

Anyone build an amp with NTE317 transistors?

I agree parts are parts if they work as intended or the crcuit can be uned to make non-origanal parts work! Up until recently I could get a great deal on MACOM MRF454's at a good price point so I used them to replace the insanely priced Toshiba 2SC2879's in my gear. I have HG2879's but have...

Thinking about building a small ground plane for temp. use at other locations.

So I am on the right track. I figured I was not too far off but that was assumption on my part. I use a tuner in my house but it is the size of a boot box not what I want to lug around. I figured same parts of fixed value would need to be in the circuit but nice to know it is not impossible to...
