Is there a way to get the half channels +5 khz (27.400 mhz, 27.500 mhz, etc.) on a Galaxy DX 949? The clarifier is open on this radio and I have done the 2 switch channel mod. Thank you in advance.

I use headphones all the time. I picked up a set made by JVC (cost about $ 12.00 at the time on Amazon) JVC HARX300 Full-Size Headphones (Black) 4 years ago and they have been great. They sound good and are very comfortable.

It is pretty quite here unless the skip is rolling. There a few local guys around here that talk on channel 11 but that is about it.

Afternoon Hammer0630 I use WD40 Specialist Water Resistance Silicone Spray. It doesn't take much and works better and last longer than anything else I have tried and I have tried an aray of cleaner and lubricants. The Grainger part number is 19L521. You can also find it on Amazon.com.

Main problem with D104M6B I purchased in May of 2011 is the switch getting scratchy. I have found some silicone spray lubricant that really helps, but I still have to lubricate the switch every 3 to 4 months depending on how much I use the mic. I wish there was a better quality switch...

I heard Florida. New York, Missouri, etc. yesterday morning, but no one was able to hear me. Oh well, at least it wasn't quite. Hopefully July will be a better month than June.

It's been dead in central Mississippi since the 1st of the month. Did not hear any skip this morning. I listened for about 45 minutes.

I haven't heard that 4444 passed away, but he did tell me one time not to long ago when I talked to him that he was 85.

Nothing on 33USB for me. Skip has really been in and out here this morning.

I use a Road Devil with my Galaxy DX-949. I run the volume on the mic at about 1/3 and the mic gain on the radio at about 3/4. Works well for me.

I guess it is just luck but we get both 41 and 4444 here in central Mississippi on a regular basis. When they are both on 38 lsb, I just move on to another frequency rather than letting them irratate me. Life is just too short!!!!

I personally do not use Magic Jack, but I have a relative that does and they always sound like crap when I talk to them. It may just be their telephone or something, but they didn't sound that way when they were with the phone company. Just my experience.
